NCIS' Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon)NCIS spoilers and updates tease that Supervisory Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) will be busy in the show’s upcoming season 9. The show’s executive producer, Steven D. Binder dropped some hints on what fans can expect from their favorite character, who’s been reported to have a reduced air time on the new season.

Fans may recall that season 8 ended with a dramatic cliffhanger after Gibb’s life was left in jeopardy. Now, viewers are wondering how he’ll deal with what happened in the coming season. According to Binder, Gibbs will hunt the person responsible for blowing up his boat. While doing that, he also needs to deal with a new team member who’s set to cause some major problems.

NCIS Spoilers – Season 18’s Shocking Finale

Season 18 ended with a shocking finale. Some characters said their goodbyes and viewers were left at the edge of their seats when Gibb’s boat exploded. The last episode titled Rule 91, which was also the name of Gibb’s boat, has shown Gibbs hunting down a serial killer. However, he eventually realized that the serial killer was tracking him and his entire team, too.

Before the episode ended, Gibb’s boat was blown up and viewers saw him swimming away from the wreckage. Now, fans are wondering what’s next for their beloved character.

NCIS Spoilers – Leroy Jethro Gibbs Will Be Angrier

In an interview with TV Insider, Binder said that “it’s not clear what state he’s in.” He hinted that Gibbs is now angrier more than ever since the boat, which he spent 10 years building, was destroyed.

“[The killer has] opened up a serious can of whoop-a**,” Binder teased. He added that Gibb’s anger could lead to his downfall. NCIS’ team leader is currently suspended for assault. Given that the explosion will make him much angrier, Gibbs may end up destroying his career.

The producer added that Gibbs has a lot of issues and they won’t go away even if he decides to return to his former life in NCIS. The character’s heart is pure but he’s always been a troubled soul, which makes it difficult to say if he can move on from this incident or if he can cope with life without his job.

Agent Alden Parker Joins the Team

Aside from that, Gibbs also has to deal with a new team member. FBI Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) will not replace Gibbs. Although he’ll just temporarily fill in for him, Agent Parker will cause some problems within the team.

“He’s going to cross lines that will make you both love and hate him,” Binder revealed.
