NCIS Spoilers: Could Jack Sloane (Maria Bello) Return To The CBS Show?

NCIS spoilers tease that the powers that be at NCIS may have left an opportunity for Maria Bello to return as Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane in future episodes. Maria had announced her departure several months ago, so it was not a surprise to fans, and unlike all the other female characters on the series, Sloane left alive!

NCIS Spoilers – How Many Female Characters Have Been Killed Off Of NCIS?

Throughout the eighteen year history of NCIS, many female characters have left – and it seems all have been killed off, with the exception of Abby Scuito, played by Pauley Perette. First there was Caitlin Todd, played by Sasha Alexander. She literally died right in front of Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) eyes after having been picked off by a sniper.

Director Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly) died, as well as Caitin’s successor, Ziva David (Cote de Pablo). More recently, Director Leon Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) wife was killed as well as Tobias Fornell’s (Joe Spano). It was recently revealed even NCIS coroner Jimmy Palmer’s (Brian Dietzen) wife died, from covid although it was not shown onscreen.

The fact that Jack left alive could be a clue that Maria will be welcomed back should she choose to reprise her role. Previously on NCIS, Jack told Gibbs that she needed a change, and had made an offer on a house in Costa Rica and would be leaving NCIS. Plain and simple explanation – Jack Sloane is suffering from burnout! She made that point very clear to Gibbs by the time they found her friend, Darya (Sara Emami) dead after being thrown off a pickup truck; she told him “this” – this is why she wanted to leave NCIS, because they catch the bad guys and put them away, but all that ever changes is them – and not for the better! She ran off in tears, but put her grief for her friend to work trying to find the bad guy.

NCIS Spoilers – Jack Sloane And Jethro Gibbs Found The Bad Guy, Saved The Day, And Kissed Goodbye

Jack did some deep digs after they found her dead friend Darya who had saved Jack’s life. She found that Nabi, (Ismail Bashley) who she thought was a good guy was actually behind the Taliban capture of the school bus that held Darya and four school girls. They let one go, and after finding Darya, Jack had decided to complete the mission to save the others herself – NCIS Gibbs figured it out and confronted her, and told her she was not going this alone, he was coming with her! With the long-distance help of the rest of the NCIS team back home in Quantico, Virginia, they were able to find the missing girls and Jack was able to scare a confession out of Nabi! By this time Gibbs knew Sloane had never planned to retire to Costa Rica.

Her heart was in Afghanistan, and she had decided to stay behind and continue Darya’s work at Moroor Amen, the girls’ school. Sloane told Gibbs she needed a change; instead of trying to fix negatives she wanted to birth positives, and make a difference. She told him although she had enjoyed her time at NCIS, she felt that her services were not needed anymore.

Sloane also admitted to Gibbs that she had been running, and that she didn’t want to anymore. She felt that she didn’t belong behind a desk and never had. With that, the long-awaited kiss took place that confirmed to fans that Jack and Gibbs indeed did have a romantic history, although it didn’t confirm that they were currently in a relationship. But the way Jack Sloane left the NCIS canvas definitely hints at a possible future return!
