NCIS spoilers tease that real-life husband and wife Mark Harmon and Pam Dawber, who are playing Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Marcie Warren, respectively in recent episodes of NCIS, were once forced to keep their relationship a secret!

NCIS Spoilers – Mark Harmon And Pam Dawber Are A Very Private Couple

It is true that Mark and Pam are a very private couple. This is the first time they have even ever acted together in a television show or any kind of production at all. Pam, known for her roles in “Mork and Mindy” and “My Sister Sam” married Mark, who incidentally is the brother of Kristin Harmon of “Ozzie and Harriet” fame in 1987. They said their vows in the chapel of his alma mater, the Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California. Harmon had just finished his time on “St. Elsewhere”, where he had begun being recognized as a star, and Pam was still on “My Sister Sam”.

But no matter how famous they became or how brightly their Hollywood stars shone at any given time, they have always kept their relationship and their private lives very private. Their wedding was a very small wedding with only close friends and family. Not long after they married, their first son, Sean was born, in 1988. Another son, TY arrived in 1992. Ty is now a Hollywood screenwriter while Sean is an actor, having played a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs in a couple of episodes of NCIS. Not long after Sean was born Pam made the decision to spend more time as a wife and a mother and less time before the cameras unless it was posing with her boys for family album photos!

NCIS Spoilers – Pam Dawber Made A Rare Appearance On Entertainment Tonight In 2016

Pam made a then-rare appearance on Entertainment Tonight in 2016, explaining her decision to semi-retire from show business and acting to focus on her family. A stay-at-home mother had become rarer and rarer, and it was no longer the world of her sister-in-law’s parents-in-law, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson. Kristin was the wife of singer Ricky Nelson from 1963 to 1982 and was Mark’s oldest sister. Pam is quoted as having said on that Entertainment Tonight episode that she didn’t think that two people could work all the time in show business and still be able to successfully maintain their marriage. She commented that when she made the decision to be a stay-at-home mother and wife she had been in a number one television show, she had her own contract deal, she got to do musical theater and Broadway while still on the sitcom.

Pam continued, saying that she had done everything one could do show business-wise, but when the babies came, she decided she wasn’t going to chase “this fame thing” anymore. She and Mark have spoken on extremely rare occasions publically about their marriage and family, and in 2017 Mark told TV Insider that their extreme privacy is not even a choice they make, it is just who they are and what they do. Mark said they stay home a lot, he’s not a Facebook guy or a Twitter guy, much like Leroy Jethro Gibbs not staying up to date with technology, making himself the bane of the very tech-savvy Agent Timothy McGee’s (Sean Murray) existence at times!

Their songs aren’t social media types either. It’s just not natural for them. The time that they were forced to keep their relationship secret was just before they married and just after he was named the 1986 People Magazine “Sexiest Man Alive”! Pam said if people don’t want their relationships totally exploited by the press, they have to keep things secret. They have never forgotten that and especially concerning their children. She continued, saying their fans don’t see them in the magazines! She and Mark believe in keeping children from the media and potential predator dangers, rather than plastered on front pages. Mark reiterated their marriage is very important to them, and he always wears his wedding ring when he isn’t filming.
