NCIS Spoilers: Wilmer Valderrama Talks Nick Torres’ Future

NCIS: Wilmer Valderrama (Nick Torres) NCIS spoilers tease that Wilmer Valderrama, who plays NCIS Special Agent Nick Torres on the popular drama, spills the tea about Torres’ future on the next season of NCIS, which is season 19.

NCIS Spoilers – The NCIS Team Went Through Substantial Changes In Season 18

NCIS viewers will recall that the team went through substantial changes in season 18, with an unexpected departure, deaths – not among the team itself, but on the periphery – and changes in leadership. In March, forensic psychologist Dr. Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane (Maria Bello) unexpectedly left NCIS to go to a mission field of sorts, helping with young girls and keeping them safe from Taliban control in Afghanistan.

It wasn’t very long afterward that team leader, Special Agent In Charge Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) became involved in a situation that Jack likely could have helped with – the team had busted a dogfighting ring and Gibbs lost his composure and nearly killed the dogfighting ring leader, and when questioned by NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) Gibbs wouldn’t have been sorry if he had killed the guy.

That left Vance no choice but to suspend Gibbs indefinitely. A close friend of the team, FBI agent Tobias Fornell (Joe Spano) lost his daughter, Emily Fornell (Juliette Angelo) died of a drug overdose after being clean for quite a while, and in the season finale, the NCIS team said goodbye to all but one of the NCIS REACT team, who joined with them with the departure of Eleanor Bishop (Emily Wickersham). Also, let’s not forget Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) lost his wife Breena Palmer (Michelle Pierce) died offscreen of Covid.

NCIS Spoilers – Eleanor Bishop’s Departure Left Nick Torres Hanging

NCIS viewers will recall that prior to Ellie’s unexpected departure from NCIS in the season finale, she and Nick seemed to be getting pretty cozy. Not long before that shock, Nick was reunited unexpectedly with his father, who abandoned him as a child, Miguel Torres (Steven Bauer), and then after a case, they worked on his father abandoned him again! Asked him to meet him for lunch and stood him up!

Valderrama explained about the episode that Torres was affected deeply by his father’s abandonment at age five, and when they met up again he didn’t want to have anything to do with him he was so angry. Torres found out his father was an undercover agent who did very similar work to Nick’s own work with NCIS. Nick found it hard to trust anyone because of this, and was mostly distant and kept to himself.

But he was opening up to Ellie and it seemed for a while that the two were bonding and headed for a romantic relationship – they may have had an offscreen fling, but then didn’t move forward because of Ellie’s shocking departure from the team. Torres was shocked, and Ellie apologized when saying goodbye, saying she didn’t mean for “them” to happen – Torres thought they had a future but Ellie knew they didn’t all along, and again he was betrayed by someone he trusted. Valderrama expects he’ll play Torres going back to the way he was before, distant, all business, and trusting no one. However, he teases, that in season 19 viewers will get to see a different side of Nick Torres!
