The first half of the show’s season 4 just ended with a powerful episode that has left a lot of fans in shock and wondering what’ll happen next. In the fall finale, Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold) and Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman) have moved to London to start a new life while Leyla and Bloom talk about the bribe. Lyn Malvo (Frances Turner) drops a huge revelation on Floyd Reynolds (Jocko Sims) while Iggy Frome (Tyler Sean Labine) seems to have made a terrible decision about his new head nurse.
Showrunner, David Schulner, has dropped some hints on what’s to come once the show makes its winter premiere in 2022.
New Amsterdam – What Next For Lauren Bloom And Leyla Shinwari?
Many viewers are wondering if the latest confrontation means the end for Bloom and Leyla. Fans may recall that it all started when Bloom paid a big bribe back in season 3. She made the so-called “donation” to secure the fifth slot as an ED resident for her girlfriend. Now, it’s been revealed that Bloom paid a whopping $90,000 to get the spot.
New Amsterdam spoilers show Leyla was shocked and horrified after learning what Bloom had done. Bloom tried to keep the secret for months. Leyla accidentally found out about it from Reynolds when he tried to recruit her to join him in surgery. Leyla and Bloom’s emotional confrontation seemed to hint that it’s the end of their relationship.

When asked if the pair will be able to get through it, Schulner said, “We all hope so. I hope so. The writers hope so. We love them together. We love everything about them. Leyla brings out a new side in Bloom that we’ve never seen before.”
He added that they want to see them together. However, Bloom must face the consequences of her actions. If they do come back from it, they’ll both have to put in a lot of effort. Schulner hinted that they will go through some tough times in the second half of the season. Fans will just have to wait and “see if they came out the other side.”

Schulner hinted that Leyla wants to get away from Bloom as far as possible because of what she learned. That said, Leyla may not want to join Reynolds since she may still run into Bloom.

But does that mean Leyla will be gone for good? It seems like the New Amsterdam character will be sticking around. Jocko Sims hinted that Leyla will contact Reynolds about something, which will put the latter in a difficult situation. This incident is expected to happen in future episodes of season 4.
