New “Lord Of The Rings” Reboot To Enter Production At Warner Bros

The “Lord of the Rings” franchise is reportedly getting a reboot at Warner Bros so I guess it’s time for fans to make merry. All that bingeing the movie decades after its original release is finally going to pay off. Interest in the trilogy was further reignited with the production of “Rings of Power,” and you can bet fans want more than a prequel show.

Warner Bros Label New Line Cinema Wins Deal To Make “Multiple” Films Based On J.R.R. Tolkien’s Bestselling Books

Warner Bros Pictures will be rebooting the billion dollar “Lord of the Rings” franchise. Since its release, the film has managed to gross nearly $3 billion in the worldwide box office franchise, leading to Jackson’s follow-up trilogy based on Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” which was also incredibly received.

Even though it’s all hush hush at the moment, Jackson and his main “Lord of the Rings” collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens revealed that Warner Bros and Embracer have kept them in the loop every step of the way.

“We look forward to speaking with them further to hear their vision for the franchise moving forward,” Jackson, Walsh and Boyens said in the statement.

This is coming after Freemode, a division of Embracer Group, made the adaptive rights deal for books including “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit.” The pact will reportedly be billed under Middle-earth Enterprises.

Last year saw De Luca and Abdy leave MGM to take the helm at Warner Bros following the acquisition of MGM by Amazon — the tech giant owns the TV rights to “Lord of the Rings.”

New Line Cinema And Warner Bros Pictures Collaborates.

“Following our recent acquisition of Middle-earth Enterprises, we’re thrilled to embark on this new collaborative journey with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, bringing the incomparable world of J.R.R. Tolkien back to the big screen in new and exciting ways,” said Lee Guinchard, CEO of Freemode.

“We understand how cherished these works are and working together with our partners at New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, we plan to honor the past, look to the future, and adhere to the strongest level of quality and production values.”

De Luca and Abdy went on to add that New Line “took an unprecedented leap of faith to realize the incredible stories, characters and world of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ on the big screen … but for all the scope and detail lovingly packed into the two trilogies, the vast, complex and dazzling universe dreamed up by J.R.R. Tolkien remains largely unexplored.”

At the moment, no stars have been attached to the project, and it’s possibly because of the double WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike.
