The talented actor, director, cowboy, and writer Taylor Sheridan has created another addition to the Sheridan Universe and, this time, it’s not about cowboys but gangsters. The creative juices behind Yellowstone, 1883, and the soon-to-be-released, 6666, have brought another blockbuster name into the Sheridan Universe with Sylvester Stallone.
Kansas City Spoilers – Mobster In A Small City
According to Esquire, Stallone is in talks to star in Taylor Sheridan’s new mobster series where Stallone would play Sal, a New York City gangster who moves to Kansas City. Ripped from his comfort zone in New York City, Sal’s job will now entail navigating the power structure in the comparatively tony midwestern city.
The experience will surely be one of uncertainty as Sal is no doubt accustomed to life in his New York megalopolis where his Italian American mob family has ruled, relatively unchallenged, for just short of a century. Of course, when you’ve lived a life of a mobster, clawing and gouging your way to the top of the proverbial food chain is sort of second nature and, according to Deadline, that’s exactly how this series intends to play out.
Kansas City Spoilers – Taylor Sheridan Show With A New Show-Runner
This will be the first series created by Sheridan that will be run by someone else – Terence Winter. Don’t be troubled by that realization though, as Winter has weathered storms on such acclaimed mobster productions as Boardwalk Empire and The Sopranos.
This new series will (hopefully) cast Stallone in his first major lead in a television series having guest-starred in a couple of classics from the 70s, Police Story, and Kojak, and more recently, This Is Us.
Kansas City Spoilers – Sly Stallone Accepts The Role Of Sal And Executive Producer
Sheridan has received many deals for new shows since Yellowstone took America by storm in 2018. This includes two series directly related to the show, 1883, and 6666, as well as another 2021 series, Mayor of Kingstown. Winter, Sheridan, and Stallone will all be serving on the Kansas City board as executive producers.
The Rocky superstar took to Instagram on Tuesday, December 7, to confirm he’ll be doing the part, writing, “Looking forward to this project with great anticipation and working closely with The brilliant creator, Taylor Sheridan, and gifted Terrence Winter.”
The premiere date for Kansas City has not been announced but Taylor Sheridan fans can still catch fresh episodes of 1883 on Sundays at 9 PM Central as well as Yellowstone at 7 PM Central on the Paramount Network. Come back here often for Yellowstone and 1883 news, spoilers, and updates.
