Nikki and Brie Bella, a.k.a the “Bella Twins” were one of the pace setters in the WWE women‘s division. The twins made their WWE debut in 2007, but announced their retirement from wrestling in 2019, with Nikki saying then in her reality tv show “Total Bellas” that she no longer feels young enough to continue in that line of career.
“I just feel like I’m too old for that travel, I realized … ‘Why am I doing this anymore?’ I don’t feel good.” Before going on to say, “I really am ready to hang up the jersey. Like, I can say it fully, [I’m done].”
Recently, the twins seem to be putting their return to wrestling into consideration.
Nikki & Brie Bella — The Bella Twins Might Return To The Ring Soon
On Thursday, January 26, the Bella Twins made an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen,” there, the twins hinted at their plans on returning to the ring. Nikki revealed that she wants to have one last match, “I’ve always felt in me that I have one more last run … which I’d love to do with her.”
Nikki also said that she would love her son Matteo Chigvintsev to be at the ringside during her last match, and added “Hopefully, that’s like in a year or two… and I still look good. We’ll be the MILF team, right Breezy?” She asked Brie.
Last year November, the Bella Twins granted an interview with “TV Insider” —per Sportskeeda. In the interview, the twins were asked about their feelings after they watched their Biography: WWE Legends, and Nikki said:
“Wrestling never leaves you. I hear that from all the past legends. Wrestling is always there with you. I’m told nobody ever retires (…) If it’s the right moment and it makes sense, we will be back.”
In the interview, Bella Twins also hinted at their interest in returning to wrestling, they said that once the opportunity for their return is open then they will make their comeback because they wouldn’t want to return and upstage the other women that have been there busting their ass off for an opportunity.
“The one thing Brie and I have been so respectful of is the other women’s time. They are there every week. They work really hard. We never want to come in and take away an opportunity. If there is an opportunity where it enhances a female superstar, we would be there in a heartbeat.”
Nikki & Brie Bella — The Bella Twins Details Their Issues With WWE
During the January 23 episode of Monday Night Raw in which Raw celebrated it’s 30 years anniversary “RAW Is XXX,” the show featured highlights of several memorable moments like the good, bad, funny, incredible, awesome, shocking, etc., that went down all through Raw’s 30 years of existence.
Many WWE legends graced the occasion but those whose absence was felt the most were that of the Bella Twins. They finally revealed why they refused to show up, and it’s because most of those featured moments were all about the men.
Very little of the women’s contribution to the show was featured. For example, the triple threat match between Becky Lynch, Rhonda Rousey, and Charlotte flair, all started in the ring of Monday Night Raw. The four horsewomen were introduced on Monday Night Raw.
The highlights only featured two female scenes, one was when Alexa Bliss attacked Randy Orton, and the other was when Bailey made her return with the Damage CTRL. To crown it all, not a single clip of the Bella Twins was shown.
In a recent appearance at The Tamron Hall Show, the Bella Twins said, “So when you have a 3-hour show and it’s male-dominated and women aren’t being honored pretty much at all, you just sit back and you’re like why aren’t we being appreciated? Why don’t you even have a video package showcasing what these incredible women have done?”
“It made me upset for all of the women because I know that feeling of walking out to the ring where you walk out and put your body on the line, you give it your all just to entertain your fans and the TV viewers. You just come back and you want to feel appreciated for that.”
“Some of us have had career-ending injuries. We shouldn’t go away. I feel if a wrestler leaves the company, or they are no longer there, it doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be remembered. I wish and I hope that maybe that will be more in the future and we still have a way to go, that women will be appreciated for what they do.”
In conclusion, they said, “The Bella Twins don’t have to be at Raw 30. It’s all the other women and we can give you a whole long list, that should have been there.”
