Nicole Kidman Blossom Films Takes On Big Little Lies Production
This won’t be the first time that Nicole Kidman’s production company is tackling a popular book from Lane Moriarty’s, as they have previously worked on the HBO series Big Little Lies, based on Moriarty’s book of the same name. Fans are looking forward to yet another thrilling run as the last adaptation from the production company Blossom Films was a fan favorite and even snatched itself a Golden Globe award.
During the Oscars’ 93rd annual award show telecast by ABC, the limited series premiering on Hulu released its first trailer. The surprise 30-second trailer takes viewers into the Tranquillum House, a strange wellness retreat facility that uses unorthodox methods for curing behavioral disorders and all forms of anxiety.
Nicole Kidman’s character Masha runs the house, asking her patients to surrender to her. The nine guests of the resort are all shown in the 30-second clip and includes Melissa McCarthy (Francis), Luke Evans (Lars), Regina Hall (Carmel), Bobby Cannavale (Tony), Grace Van Patten (Zoe), Asher Keddie (Heather), Michael Shannon (Napoleon), Samara Weaving (Jessica), and Melvin Gregg (Ben).
As of yet, there’s not much to conclude on how true the series will keep to its book counterpart, but we can safely say that we’re looking forward to something as creepy as the book. The limited series follows nine guests from different walks of life who attend the pricey resort for their own private reasons, at least that much was clear from the trailer.
“We are on the precipice of something great,” she tells her questioning guests in the short clip. We see each of the guests battling with their own demons and get a glimpse of the strange ways by which Nichole Kidman’s character Masha employs in order to cure them.
Nine Perfect Strangers Details
The series will be co-written by David E. Kelley, John-Henry Butterworth, and Samantha Strauss and will be directed by Jonathan Levine. While it’s been announced that the series will be premiering on Hulu later this year, there has been no release date associated with the project as of yet.
Fans of the book already know some of what will hit them in the movie, but there are many others who won’t, so without giving anything away, the synopsis of the series reads: “Based on The New York Times bestselling book by author Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living. Watching over them during this ten-day retreat is the resort’s director Masha (Nicole Kidman), a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, these nine “perfect” strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.”
