Prodigal Son News – Why Cancel Prodigal Son?
The news of the cancellation was confirmed by Fox yesterday. The reason for the cancellation is obvious to fans of Fox TV: low ratings.
The series has declined greatly compared to its season one averages. Even the presence of Catherine Zeta-Jones towards the end of season two did was not enough to give the series a boost. The producers of the show and Fox tried me back a lot of things to keep the show going but it just was not enough.
Lack of ownership at Fox is one of the things that hurt the show. It is quite hard for the network to make a profit as most of their present scripted productions come from studios outside. Fox now works independently, without any ties to big-ticket studios. However, the network is still trying to stand after many of its precious extensions have been sold off to Disney.

The cast of the series, upon hearing the news, celebrated their time on the show and each other. Tom Payne, the lead actor playing the role of Malcolm Bright had said playing Malcolm was a big privilege and he had the opportunity to work with the best cast on network TV on the most unique show ever. He said they ended the series in style, he appreciated everyone who watched the show. He concluded that fans should check out the remaining episodes, stating that they are amazing. Prodigal Son is produced by Berlanti Productions in conjunction with Warner Bros. Television and Fox Entertainment. The story follows the life of Malcolm Bright, who was a child responsible for aiding the arrest of his father, Martin Whitley. He had not seen his father in 10 years; however, he finds himself drawn back to constant contact with his father. He must use Whitly’s insight to assist the police to solve horrible crimes as, his job as a profiler; as well as battle his inner demons.
Prodigal Son News – Would Prodigal Son Be Making A Comeback?
With the situation of things at the network, it does not seem like the series would be returning with season 3. There is a fifty-fifty chance of the show returning but not on Fox, but we would not bank on it as it feels altogether unlikely. However, this is not a criticism of the show but rather an indication that a large majority of canceled shows don’t end up returning through different networks; with Television being a business, it is hard for this to change. However, we hope that Prodigal Son finds a home on another network.
There are still pending episodes of season two to come. Even though this is a sad reminder, we hope to enjoy the rest of the series. Hopefully, they would be dramatic and filled with beautiful twists.
