See How Amazon Prime Video Hopes To Use AI Recaps To Keep Viewers Up To Date

AI is infiltrating almost every aspect of the entertainment industry, and whether we want to embrace this change or not, the truth is that it’s here and it’s here to stay. That being said, not every AI use is bad for the economy or society. I’m saying this because I know a lot of people who believe AI is coming for their jobs – I’m reasonably worried, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that I’m scared. In fact, I’ll say that I’m scared and excited to see all we can be able to achieve with AI.

One of those things is never losing the plot of a TV show ever again. No need to go back and catch up on any old episodes when AI can catch you up. Interested now? Good!

Prime Video Launches New Feature X-Ray Recaps: What It’s All About

Sometimes waiting for our favorite shows to drop can feel like waiting forever – for example, ‘Wednesday’ – but with X-Ray Recaps, you never have to lose the plot even if you return to a TV show a decade later. (Believe me when I say that I started watching ‘Scorpion’ in 2017 and I’m yet to finish watching the second season, let alone the third. I still might go back to ‘Gotham’ one day, so…)

Luckily, X-Ray Recaps has been designed to provide written recaps of shows up to the minute you stopped watching it.

You can apply this to an entire series, a whole season, an episode, or even parts of an episode, as a way to stay up to date with key plot points, character development, and other details. The best part is that X-Ray Recaps will be completely spoiler-free.

What the Vice President Of Product At Prime Video Has Said About the New Feature

Adam Gray, vice president of product at Prime Video, said: “Prime Video product and technology teams work relentlessly behind the scenes to enhance customers’ viewing experience, and with the creation of X-Ray Recaps, we’re directly addressing a common problem customers face when streaming content: forgetting where they left off.”

Gray continued: “With this context-aware functionality, Prime Video will deliver summaries of memorable moments and important plot points so our customers can quickly jump back into what they were watching or rediscover why they fell in love with a series in the first place.”

On compatible devices, users can access X-Ray Recaps from the Prime Video detail page or during playback on the X-Ray experience. Once you’ve selected the feature, you can then choose from different types of recaps, including current episodes, the season up to the point you’ve already watched, or prior seasons.

Once launched, you can use the feature on all Amazon MGM Studios original series.
