Suits Spin-Off News: Meghan Markle Stars In Legal Drama Reboot?

Suits, starring Meghan Markle, has turned into a stunning success for streaming platforms such as Netflix. And now new details have emerged about the highly anticipated Suits spin-off.

Years before Meghan Markle dreamed of becoming the Duchess of Sussex, the actress fulfilled her TV dreams with a role on Suits. And in the wake of the legal drama doing well on the USA Network, Suits scored a new life on streaming platforms.

As a result, the show featuring Meghan Markle has sparked rumors about a spin-off. And now a new report via Pop Culture reveals that the Suits spin-off will take place in Los Angeles, California. But although it lacks a title, the new show will take place in the same time frame as the original Suits.

And Beatrice Springborn, President of Universal International Studios and UCP, offered some details at the entertainment industry conference Content London. Temporarily dubbed Suits LA, the spin-off comes off as “so fun and happy,” gushed the studio president.

However, Springborn seemingly buried the lead news. Because she also made a statement that sparked speculation Meghan Markle will return in Suits LA. And the studio president hinted at the cast including the Duchess of Sussex, promising the spin-off will feature “the same energy and good-looking people that the original did.”

But Springborn also revealed that the Suits spin-off has begun work “right now.” However, the studio president pointed out that the show needs a compelling plot and characters.

“It is amazing looking at people in great clothes,” reflected Springborn. “But at the core of it, you can’t have a show that’s successful with just that. It has to have great storytelling and great character work. So how do you do something that can be ongoing, have a gloss to it, and be a continuing series that everyone wants?”

Because the original Suits did succeed in meeting all those goals, it could be a tough act to follow. The USA Network featured the legal drama for nine seasons. And after the finale scored high ratings in September 2019, Netflix offered Suits a second chance with its streaming platform. As a result, the legal drama broke viewing records in its popularity, giving Meghan a new chance to display her fictitious charms as the iconic Rachel Zane.

However, the Hollywood writers and actors strikes caused the original plans for a spin-off to go on hiatus. But with the strike’s end, the work on the Suits spin-off can resume. And that means plenty of time for the Duchess of Sussex to buy new designer outfits for Hollywood.

Adding to the speculation, Elle reports that Meghan and Prince Harry plan to sell their $14.6 million Montecito mansion in order to move to Los Angeles. The Duchess of Sussex plans to return to the entertainment industry. As a result, the move to Hollywood makes sense. And her decision to sign with talent agency William Morris Endeavor also serves as a clue that Meghan will star in the Suits spin-off. 

However, the Duchess of Sussex only teased her future entertainment industry projects. But she did promise “so many exciting things on the slate. I can’t wait until we can announce them. But I’m just really proud of what we’re creating.”
