Yellowstone fans are looking forward to a spinoff with Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey after season 5 comes to an end. Meanwhile, to excite them even further, there are reports that three popular cast members from the series could reprise their roles in that new show.
Yellowstone cast members who could star in the new spinoff
It is exciting that the iconic actor, Matthew McConaughey, is returning to his acting career in a new Yellowstone spinoff. However, what makes this even more exciting for fans is that three of the mother ship series’ popular cast members are set to reprise their roles in the spinoff.
According to a report by Puck, there are talks surrounding Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser and Luke Grimes returning to their roles in the new spinoff. Moreover, the three actors are believed to be seeking bigger per-episode payments, which could be stalling plans to get the new show into production. Puck states:
Reilly, in particular, initially asked for a whopping $1.5 million an episode, according to two sources, at or above the very top tier of TV stars, though in recent communications that number has come down to $1.2 million an episode.
Puck adds, “Hauser, I’m told, had asked for $1.25 million an episode, up from the $700,000 an episode he currently makes.”
Meanwhile, there is no news so far on what Grimes could be demanding.
New leading lady in the new spinoff?
As fans know well, several Hollywood icons have already starred in the Yellowstone spinoffs, including Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Now, according to Puck, Michelle Pfeiffer is reportedly being eyed for the new spinoff.
Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey is still the top star to lead. However, Puck states that reports of the actor’s commitment to the job are being overstated. They write, “He won’t sign on until he sees a script, which hasn’t happened yet, per his agent.”
However, producers are “much closer” on Michelle Pfeiffer, who is reportedly in negotiations for the female lead on the show. Meanwhile, neither McConaughey nor Pfeiffer have signed official deals, but are said to be getting close. They will either “close a deal, or walk away” in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to part 2 of season 5 of Yellowstone this coming November. Moreover, more spinoffs are coming following the prequels 1883 and 1823, with series titled 1944 and 2024 in the works.
