Blue Bloods Stars Remember Treat Williams
Tom Selleck cherished his friendship with Treat Williams for years. And the two became even closer as co-stars on Blue Bloods. As a result, learning that Williams died at age 71 in a motorcycle accident shocked the 78-year-old Blue Bloods star. And Selleck, who portrays New York City police commissioner Frank Reagan on the CBS crime drama, told People about his close friendship.
“It has been said that we are all just passing time and occupy our chair very briefly,” shared Selleck. “My friend Treat was aptly named and occupied his chair so well. I will miss him,” added the Blue Bloods star. “But I will not forget him. Well done, my friend.”
And another Blue Bloods star, Bridget Moynahan, who portrays Erin Reagan on the show, praised Williams as an “actor’s actor.” Describing Treat as an “absolute pleasure” as a co-star, the 52-year-old actress viewed Williams as “a role model off screen as well. His love and devotion to his family was one for all to admire. We lost a good one, folks. RIP Treat.”
Blue Bloods star Vanessa Ray, who plays Eddie Janko-Reagan, recalled the first time that she worked with Williams. And she wrote on Instagram, “The first time I worked with Treat on @bluebloods_cbs at family dinner, he found out I was in Hair on Broadway. I said I was the ‘Frank Mills’ girl. He started singing. He knew every word. I did not. What an incredibly sharp, kind, beautiful artist. Rest now sweet Berger.”
Treat Williams Posted Pics From Blue Bloods Before Death
Before his tragic motorcycle accident, Williams shared photos on social media from the Blue Bloods set. And Treat, who portrayed the recurring role of Lenny Ross on the crime drama, included a pic with Selleck. “Thanks Tom Selleck and #Bluebloods always a pleasure. Two old pros,” he wrote in the caption.
After serving as William’s agent for 15 years, Barry McPherson confirmed his death. And he described the actor as “the nicest guy. He was an actor’s actor. Filmmakers loved him. He’s been the heart of Hollywood since the late 1970s.”
The tragedy occurred when Williams was riding his motorcycle in Vermont. A car turned and didn’t see the motorcycle before the collision. Because of “critical injuries,” those responding took Treat to a hospital in Albany, New York. An investigation continues into the accident.
But since learning of the tragedy, many of Williams’ co-stars and friends have shared their love for him on social media. For instance, Laura Dern, Marilu Henner, Melissa Gilbert, Wendell Pierce and Kim Cattrall all honored Treat. And as with Tom Selleck, many of Williams’ co-stars also viewed him as a close friend.
