The new show, which premiered on February 25, took the first spot on Netflix’s rankings on the week it first aired. During the first nine days following its release, Vikings: Valhalla was streamed more than 194 million hours. It also made to Netflix’s top 10 list in 90 different countries where the series aired.
Fans may see a new season released as early as 2023. Netflix recently announced that the show just wrapped up the production for the second season and season 3 production will be underway this coming spring.
Vikings Spoilers – Returning Cast And Crew
Both seasons will have eight episodes each, which means all three seasons will be made up of 24 episodes in total. It was Netflix’s target number of episodes when it decided to pick up the historical series.
Sam Corlett, Frida Gustavsson and Leo Suter will reprise their roles while Jeb Stuart will also return to spearhead and executive produce the series.

Netflix’s exec Peter Friedlander said they’re thrilled to provide fans with more epic action and adventure for the series they love. He lauded Stuart for a job well done and for making new and existing Vikings fans to love the spinoff series.
Vikings Spoilers – Frida Gustavsson Talks About Freydis
In a previous interview, Frida Gustavsson revealed that her character, Freydis Eiríksdóttir on Vikings: Valhalla, was inspired by Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) from Vikings. Gustavsson wants to continue the carrying the torch, which Winnick carried as a badass female lead. She also pointed out that the new characters in the spin off series have their own qualities and are different people in their own right.
The spin off series takes place during the final years of the Vikings age, which is about 100 years after the Vikings’ story ended. Vikings: Valhalla follows the story of Freydis, Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), and Harald Hardrada (Leo Suter).
