The Wynonna Earp writer, Emily Andras, has teased the future storyline in an interview with Deadline. Although she has a lot of ideas and plans for the characters for future seasons, she admitted she will not spill all the beans.
Andras said: “I think we only dove into the tip of the dark angel Waverly storyline. Has Wynonna completely resolved her relationship with being a demon hunter and the gun?”
Emily also mentioned Nicole Haught’s Wynonna Earp character as Angel’s Shield. “She’s not permitted to leave the Ghost River Triangle. What does that look like? Are there supernatural abilities affiliated with that, or is she just a mortal who literally can’t leave this prison?”
The writer also revealed that Doc. Holiday is not a vampire. “But I’m not sure if he did that on the up and up. Vampires are a very famously vengeful bunch. I’m not sure they’re going to love the way he went about this,” she added.
All About Numbers
The beloved series met the end of its road for Season 4 when it had just returned this March. Its final sixth episode aired on April 9 produced by IDW Entertainment.
The decision of ending the show forwarded due to a lack of funding from producers IDW Entertainment (Netflix’s Locke & Key). The series didn’t have a huge international audience that resulted in a lack of international sales.
It also had a lot to do with international license rights. NBCUniversal-owned Syfy, alongside Canadian distributor Space, paid a licensing fee to air the Canadian series domestically. Both contributed additional funding to help IDW’s series get back on screens, though Syfy remained to be the show’s biggest financial partner.
Furthermore, IDW still owns the rights to show and its franchise, it was impossible for Syfy to push through on its own.
Wynonna Earp – There’s More To Tell
The writer admitted that this world will never run out of stories and that there’s more to tell. She would love to revisit those stories all again one day.
“There’s always more story, especially in a show like Wynonna Earp. There’s always another demon hiding under the bed, and I’m confident there’s a million different ways to continue telling those stories,” she added.
“If we do a movie 5 or 10 years from now, see where people are at, I would love to do something like that,” Emily said.
