As everyone awaits the beginning of the end for Yellowstone since Season 5, Part 2 is about to drop on Paramount+ come November, many fans wish it wouldn’t end.
They aren’t alone! Actor Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, recently admitted he would also love nothing more than to continue playing this character.
So much so, he recently ‘encouraged’ Yellowstone’s creator and executive producer, Taylor Sheridan to write a spinoff.
“Yellowstone’s” Cole Hauser – ‘I Don’t Make The Decisions …’
During a recent interview with Cigar Aficionado, Hauser was asked about a possible Yellowstone spinoff. He replied stating, “I don’t make the decisions, brother – I’m a hired gun.”
The actor continued with, “Would I like a spinoff? Yeah. It’s been a pleasure working with the cat, with Taylor Sheridan; why would we stop at a good thing? Yes, pen it and let’s do it.”
Interestingly enough, during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kelly Reilly, who plays Rip’s better half, Beth Dutton, admitted that when she was filming Season 1 of Yellowstone, Sheridan stated the show was always slated to have five seasons. Looks like there’s no way that Yellowstone will go on, but could fans see a spinoff?

Reports Indicate There’s A Possibility
Having said that, just this past August, reports surfaced that Reilly and Hauser with both in talks for an additional season of Yellowstone and that the show might not be cancelled after Season 5, Part 2.
Prior to that, about two years ago, rumors were buzzing of a Yellowstone spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey, along with some OG cast, which would be titled “2024”.
This rumor held on for quite a while, with some reports stating that McConaughey wanted a script, but that never came to fruition. As of this writing, neither Sheridan nor Paramount+ has announced a Yellowstone spinoff.
Meanwhile, Cole goes on to share how much he loves his Rip character in the interview, noting, “… you don’t get to see real American men this way anymore. He’s honest, he’s loyal, as insane as he can be at times, he has a great heart. The simplicity of life, the understanding of nature, I can go on and on.”
