Everyday we draw nearer to the release of the second part of “Yellowstone’s” 5th season feels more surreal. Yes I know there are spinoffs in the works – and I know fans plan to immerse themselves in that world as well – but we’ll still miss “Yellowstone.”
Luke Grimes Calls “Yellowstone” Character His Dream Role
“If I could have figured out my dream role at the age that I got that job, it would have been Kayce,” the star, who once lost the “Twilight” role to Edward Cullen, told UK’s Independent.
Awww… It feels nice to hear Luke Grimes say that because I know many “Yellowstone” fans are absolutely in love with his character, Kayce.
However, becoming Kayce wasn’t as easy as all that as he admitted he did have a hard time filming the first season for this reason.
“I felt like an idiot for the first year of Yellowstone wearing a cowboy hat,” he confessed. “It takes a while before that doesn’t feel ridiculous. Now, I barely notice it.”
Before landing “Yellowstone,” he starred in “True Blood” and “Brothers & Sisters.” His breakout role came in the form of 2014’s “American Sniper.” From there, he played the promiscuous brother Elliot Grey to the lead character Christian Grey in “Fifty Shades.”
Luke Grimes – Reacts To Critics Politicizing And Labeling The Show
While the neo-Western drama is a beloved show, it still didn’t save it from the power of critics.
Speaking on how critics react to characters on “Yellowstone,” he said, “I think a lot of people see a cowboy hat and a horse and they think, ‘Oh, that’s not for me, those people believe differently.’ And it’s almost like they take these flawed characters in the show and chalk it up to some sort of weird belief that they’ve put on them.”
Calling out the hypocrisy, he noted, “Meanwhile, you can have a terrible person like [Succession’s] Logan Roy, who lives in an apartment in Manhattan, and that’s fine. That guy’s a total piece of s***. But that’s okay.”
“I just don’t understand why that has to immediately equal some political belief. And I don’t think it does,” he said.
Grimes then went on to share his own ideology on politics and steering clear of it. “It doesn’t concern me personally because I don’t feel the need to get super political with my own music. If listening to music was like looking at the news, then I would never f****** do it.”
