Yellowstone Reaches Top Of Streaming Chart For First Time In 5 Seasons

Yellowstone spoilers reveal that the beloved modern western has reached the top of the streaming chart for the first time in its five seasons of production. Read on and we’ll fill you in on the details.

Yellowstone Spoilers – Taylor Sheridan’s Expanding Universe

Yellowstone spoilers reveal that, according to Screen Rant, in the wake of 1923’s premiere the show has finally peeked on the streaming charts. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the show first premiered in 2018 and is currently in the middle of season 5 on the Paramount Network with streaming rights owned by NBC’s Peacock.

Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, a ranching family in Montana who must perpetually defend against encroachers on their modern-day Montana ranch. The two spinoff series, ‘1923,’ and ‘1883’ go further back in time to tell the story of how the Dutton Ranch came into existence.

Yellowstone Spoilers – Surpasses 1 Billion Minutes Viewed

Sheridan’s popular series has risen steadily in the rankings and finally landed at the top of the streaming charts for the first time since it began airing (via Variety). The Nielson company who tracks shows for the charts, says it likely helped the show when a new episode wasn’t aired on Paramount Network that week.

Yellowstone’s latest episode for Season 5 hit small screens on January 1 followed by the show going on a mid-season hiatus until summer 2023. Fans will recall Yellowstone also skipped the week of December 26 — the week the ratings were released.

Its strong performance helped it surpass 1 billion minutes viewed for that week, putting it in fifth place among all streaming shows.

Yellowstone Spoilers – Why Is Yellowstone Soaring On Streaming Charts Now?

Despite the fact that the show airs on cable and has had a streaming presence throughout its 5-season run, it’s only now catching the notice of Nielsen. And though there may be many reasons for its recent rating recognition, the most likely reason points to the show’s airing on Peacock. The western series streams exclusively on Peacock rather than Paramount+ despite airing on the Paramount Network. This has led to some confusion about where the show can be streamed.

The numbers seem to suggest that most of the series’ audience is on cable via the Paramount Network. As most fans of the show likely watch it weekly on cable, eliminating much of the show’s potential streaming viewing audience – it probably resulted in poorer streaming numbers in earlier seasons.

Another possible reason for the show’s recent streaming success may very well be that the spinoff series 1923 has given a boost to the hype surrounding the franchise.
