Yellowstone: Kevin CostnerYellowstone began its TV life as somewhat of a mystery.  Potential viewers trying to decide if Yellowstone might appeal couldn’t even figure out if the show is a drama, a Western, or a prime-time soap opera.

But for all who took the risk of investing time, the reward came quickly.

And with Kevin Costner leading the cast in his role as patriarch John Dutton, Yellowstone has climbed to the top of the ratings charts for the past three seasons.

Yellowstone Season 4: Does Kevin Costner Return?

Some fans have worried that the cliff-hanger ending of Yellowstone season 3 hinted that Kevin Costner might not return for season 4.

But insiders report that Costner has returned to work on the fourth season, per OK. And his hard work has contributed to the 66-year-old actor’s reputation as a perfectionist.  As a result, Kevin reportedly has pushed himself beyond his limits to polish upcoming Yellowstone episodes.

“Kevin is one of the hardest working guys in Hollywood, and he’s been crazy busy trying to catch up after the long delays due to lockdown,” said one insider.

Costner does more than serve as the lead star in his role as John Dutton.

Putting on his Yellowstone Executive Producer hat, Kevin continues to “exhaust himself,” added the source.  “He’s keeping tabs on the editing and overseeing other post-production work.”

How Does Yellowstone Season 4 Impact Kevin Costner’s Personal Life?

And although Yellowstone season 4 will succeed due to Kevin’s hard work, the insiders point to Costner’s personal life as getting impacted.

Kevin tied the knot with his second wife, Christine Baumgartner, in 2004.  The Yellowstone actor and his wife parent three children: Cayden, 14, Hayes, 12, and Grace, 11. In addition, Costner co-parents four other kids.

But despite the couple’s “incredible 160-acre ranch in Aspen and beachfront home in Santa Barbara [Calif.],” Kevin has no free time to relax at either home, according to one source.

“Kevin’s a workhorse and deserves a lot of the credit forYellowstone’s success, but he’s running himself ragged!” summed up the insider.

At least in part due to Costner’s intense work schedule, Yellowstone season 4 filming reportedly has stayed on schedule despite the pandemic.

Look for the Dutton family to continue to try to save their cowboy life while dealing with the way that today’s culture impacts the clan’s traditions.

Reflecting on his character of John Dutton, Costner calls John “a mixed bag. He’s a fifth generation rancher who is not able to arbitrate the problems the way his grandfather and great-grandfather did. He’s living in modern times.”
