To be frank, a lot of back and forth has gone on regarding the fate of ‘Yellowstone.’ Is it truly going to end in its fifth season or is there going to be another one? The thing is, with Kevin Costner’s John Dutton death, fans are more keen than ever to continue seeing the Dutton family do what they do best, and that is protect their heritage.
Yes, there’s a number of spinoff shows all revolving around the beloved ‘Yellowstone,’ but it’s not quite the same as the original, is it? Well, we might not be getting ‘Yellowstone’ season 6, but we’re getting the closest thing to it.
Paramount Interested In Developing More ‘Yellowstone’ Shows With Stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser As Leads
Two prequel series, ‘1883’ and ‘1923,’ and one sequel ‘The Madison,’ are apparently not enough for your average ‘Yellowstone’ fan, and Paramount knows this.
In response to the continuing fan interest in the ‘Yellowstone’ universe, Paramount has decided to do a direct spinoff of the mothership show. Reports suggest Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser have closed contracts to reprise their standout roles in ‘Yellowstone.’
Since this is the first spinoff to derive directly from the original show, Deadline reported that it will carry ‘Yellowstone’ in its title.
The spinoff was the idea that was originally eyed bt ‘Yellowstone’ producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios when they invited Reilly and Hauser to negotiate a deal.
Over the summer, news emerged that they’re now being set up to carry on the show as leads, following the death of central character John Dutton.
With the views of a continuation in mind, Paramount Network quietly dropped the messaging that the upcoming season was a series finale.
Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler To Lead Planned ‘Yellowstone’ Spinoff
Cole Hauser’s Rip is a true standout in the show, alongside Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton, so it’s no wonder they’re picked to lead ‘Yellowstone’ into the next phase sans Costner’s John Dutton.
Hauser’s Rip Wheeler may not be a Dutton by blood, but he has become one through his longtime connections to the family. Rip first came to John as a young boy on the run after killing his stepfather to protect his mother.
John took him in, taught him how to be a cowboy and has treated him like a son ever since. He became John’s son-in-law when he married his only daughter Beth Dutton.
What do you think of Hauser and Reilly as leads? Does it make you excited?
