Paramount Network’s top executive dropped a hint that has left fans feeling optimistic. Rumors have been circulating that the renowned actor’s tenure as the beloved Western character John Dutton may come to a close at the end of the fifth season.

Paramount Network’s CEO, Chris McCarthy, Revealed That He’s Still Optimistic That Costner Will Reprise His Role In Yellowstone’s Future Seasons.

“[Yellowstone] wouldn’t be what it is today without Kevin, and we hope that that stays for a long time to come,” said McCarthy.

The network acknowledges the importance of Costner’s role in the series. His outstanding performance helped Yellowstone rise to fame after it debuted in 2018. However, McCarthy didn’t provide any exact details about their ongoing negotiation with Costner regarding the actor remaining as the lead.

Miranda Lambert Chooses Role She Wants On Yellowstone

On a different note, Miranda Lambert said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Rachel Smith that she would consider making an appearance on Yellowstone if she gets a certain familiar role. The If I Was a Cowboy singer revealed that being an actress isn’t her favorite thing. But she may be willing to appear on the show if she can play herself on Yellowstone.

“I’ve done one thing, and it was probably the one,” she shared. “I’m not saying I won’t ever do it again. But if I can play myself… that’s a little bit easier on me,” she added.

Lambert referred to her guest appearance as an actress on an episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit in 2012.
Yellowstone now has two spin-offs. The first one is 1883, which stars Sam Elliot, and 1923 which stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

Things may be uncertain about Costner’s future on the show, but fans can still catch him in the second half of season 5. Additionally, there’s no official announcement about his exit so there’s still hope that he’ll remain a part of Yellowstone for a long time.
