While rumors are buzzing that there’s more Yellowstone in store on Paramount after Season 5, Part 2 comes to a close this fall, actors Luke Grimes (Kayce Dutton) and Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton) insist that this is, in fact, ‘the end’ of the line for the show.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reilly stated that Taylor Sheridan, the show’s executive producer and creator, told her how the drama would end when Season 1 was filming.
“Yellowstone” Series Finale Spoilers – There Was Only Supposed To Be Five Seasons
Reilly notes there was ‘always’ only going to be five season of Yellowstone in Taylor’s mind, but as the show reached incredible success, ‘everyone’ wanted more.
Still, she adds that, “Fate took it, and we ended this part of Yellowstone in a way that he (Sheridan) always envisioned it to end.”
During the interview, she also hints about Beth’s story, entering Season 5, Part 2. She’ll struggle with the distance between her and her hubby, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), and be ‘miserable’ without him. Kelly adds that within 24 hours, Beth won’t have much patience and ask him when he’s coming back, and she may take a trip to Texas to see him.
In addition, Reilly acknowledges that John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) absence will only intensify Beth’s need to protect her family’s lineage.
“Yellowstone” Series Finale Spoilers: Luke Grimes Adds His Two Cents
Grimes stated that during Yellowstone’s series finale, fans will see Beth and Kayce interact more. He goes on to say, “It was great working with Kelly and being around Beth’s energy a little bit.”
Grimes also hints that he “couldn’t be happier” with how the series is coming to an end, and noted “I think it’s a perfect ending for the show for every character. It’s just a testament to what a good writer Taylor is, and it’s a very, very profound, beautiful ending.”
Still, are Grimes and Reilly swerving fans? Reports have surfaced that both actors are in discussion to remain on with Yellowstone, amid Kevin Costner’s recent exit. Only time will tell if “this is it” for the popular Paramount series.
