Season 4, Episode 9 of Yellowstone saw a rare moment between Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and her father John (Kevin Costner), and it ended with a boom that may bring some massive changes, not just for her, but for other characters as well. In an early scene, we see Beth fling a coffee cup at the Dutton family patriarch before revealing the scars across her back in an effort to get him to stop putting himself or the family in harm’s way as he did in the diner.
Now viewers are curious, could Beth be leaving Yellowstone? Read on and we’ll get to the bottom of it.
Yellowstone Spoilers – ‘We don’t Kill Sheep, We Kill Wolves’
Season 4 Episode 9 of Yellowstone begins with a heavy conversation between Beth and her husband-to-be Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser). During the exchange, Beth assures her fiancé that nothing will happen to him, but Rip explains that everyone dies, and no one is exempt from it.
By the time the episode wraps, though, it’s Beth, and not Rip, who gets herself into a mess. The clash between her and her father ends with John suggesting that she should leave Yellowstone. However, the ranch is a major part of Beth’s life so that leaves a lot of questions unanswered.
Fans will recall that, back in Episode 7, Beth schools Summer Higgins (Piper Perabo) about making a larger footprint, being more radical. After the environmental activist takes the advice to heart and ends up slapping a cop, we see her, in Episode 9, sitting in jail hoping for John to get her out of the situation.
This doesn’t go well for Beth as Summer ends up snitching on Beth for leverage, and this sets John off, putting it mildly which leads to the dramatic fight between Beth and her old man in which John suggests she get gone from the ranch.
“We don’t kill sheep. We kill wolves. What you did was cruel, honey.”
