Doctor Questions Death Of Betsy, Gene Hackman

Actor Gene Hackman, his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their pup died, and the news was announced by the sheriff’s office in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Later, the cause of death and dates of passing arrived but a doctor now questions the truth of the findings. 

Doctor Raises New Questions

The cause of death of the Oscar winner and his pianist wife was ruled to not include foul play. However, antennas started waving because there didn’t seem to have been much time before the announcement arrived. But, on March 1, three days after their bodies were found, it was decided that a full investigation should be done. 

Accoring to a report by The Daily Mail UK, which dropped on March 15, 2025, a doctor named “Josiah Child” was in contact with Betsy Arakawa a day after she reportedly died. If you missed it, autopsies found that Gene Hackman, 95, passed away from atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with Alzheimer’s disease.”

Apparently, he passed away a week after Betsy died from Hantavirus which is respiratory and transmitted by mice. Last seen on February 11, her fate was decided to have happened hours after surveillance cameras captured footage of her. 

The Odd Appointment 

According to the outlet, the doctor who works at Cloudberry Health in Santa Fe, said, “Mrs Hackman didn’t die on February 11 because she called my clinic on February 12.” He also added that she wasn’t a usual patient but she knew someone who recommended the place to her.

Notably, when she called on February 12, “It was for something unrelated to anything respiratory.” Initially, Betsy contacted the clinic on behalf of Gene Hackman for some checkups. On the morning of February 12, they heard from Betsy who canceled her appointment as her husband wasn’t well. So, the doctors decided to bring her in that afternoon. However, calls went without any reply. 

Raising questions, Child insisted, “She did not show any symptoms of respiratory distress. The appointment wasn’t for anything related to hantavirus.”

Conspiracy Theories Flourish

Of course, the news of the unfortunate deaths sparked a flurry of conspiracy theories, especially on Elon Musk’s X. People found it odd that despite his dementia, Gene Hackman didn’t notice his wife lying on the floor dead amid scattered medications. He also didn’t seem to notice their pup was dying of thirst and starvation locked in a cage.

Perhaps movie fans will never find out what happened. But stories like the one by Dr. Josiah Child are likely to increase speculation.
