Jason Morgan Taking A Break
Jason’s portrayer, Steve Burton, hopped on Instagram Tuesday, February 10 to give fans an update on his status with General Hospital. He posted a photo of himself, with the following heading, “Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from @generalhospitalabc.
It went on to say, “I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer.”
He closed the headline with, “Much luv – sb”. The caption on the IG post had the same message.
Asher Antonyzyn, Burton’s onscreen son, Danny Morgan, commented on the post with, “Family first!!! See ya, soon!!! (heart emoji, flex emoji)
Steve Burton’s Return

Burton made an explosive return in March 2024, after he exited the soap in November 2021. The actor was let go due to not complying to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, a policy ABC put in place during the pandemic.
As soon as the policy was dropped, Burton and Jason made a comeback, much to the delight of many fans. During his time away, he reprised his 1980’s Days of Our Lives role, Harris Michaels.
Burton originally joined GH in 1991, when he entered the role of Jason, who was known as “Jason Quartermaine” at that time. Of course, the infamous car accident in 1995 changed all that, and Jason decided to drop the Q name, and opted for Morgan.

The character drastically changed and joined Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) in the world of organized crime. While Jason would exit in 2012, when Burton headed to The Young and the Restless, playing Dylan McAvoy, he’d return home to Port Charles in 2017, only to exit again four years later.

I am really going to miss Steve Burton (Jason), however I understand spending time with your family. Looking
forward to the summer when you return. In my opinion you and Maurice Benard (Sonny) make the show. Just be glad when you all take care of Jenz Sidwell, Ross Cullum and Jack Brennan.
I may have to take a break until summer also because GH is not the same without Steve Burton as Jason. He and Sunny ARE GH!! But I hope he has a wonderful time with his family!
I love jasons character, but I’m trusting that if he says he’ll be back , he will. Or I’ll be very , wry , sad! I understand family first. Enjoy your honeymoon phase for as long as you can, you deserve it. Love you!
Will stop watching GH again, only started watching when he came back after the COVID situation. I’m happy for him and his family, the show just doesn’t it for me without him.

I think it is terrific that he wants to spend time with his family! I will miss him so much, as he really makes the show for me but truly get why he is doing this. I agree with the understanding of family first. Will look forward to seeing him come back to GH this Summer. Until then I wish him the very best!
