Many fans knew Joe Rogan back in 2001 to 2006 when he was the host of Fear Factor. Since then, the NJ native has gone on to make a name for himself with his own podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, which became one of the most popular podcasts around the world. The New York Times described Joe’s podcast as an “unlikely political influencer.” Having been praised for his advocacy of free speech, Joe is stepping forward to support actor and rapper, Will Smith.
Joe Rogan – Downplays The “Slap”
On a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe brought up the infamous slap and said that he believed Will Smith had “deep remorse” for the incident, “the guy has to be forgiven. Like, he clearly has deep remorse for what he’s done and he’s also clearly living in a world where he was given nothing but adulation and praise for most of his life. And then all of a sudden, he has this one, in many people’s eyes, unforgivable moment where he does something just so… stupid. He’s a human being. You just gotta forgive him, you know. And, I think the person who to forgive him – if he wants to is Chris Rock.”
To err is human, it is normal for people to make mistakes. Yet, for humans to forgive each other for those errors, seems like an impossibility sometimes.
Although Joe is saying this was simply something stupid that Will did, Joe did previously bash Will for slapping Chris. Seems Joe has had a change of heart!
Jada Pinkett Smith’s – Autoimmune Disease
Jada was diagnosed with Alopecia areata which is a condition in which you lose your hair. It is believed to be an autoimmune disease and there is no cure. Alopecia can cause psychological stress, social phobia, anxiety and depression. No doubt, Will has supported his wife through her diagnoses and it cannot have been easy. Looking at his side of this, when Chris Rock made the joke, it hit home for Will. Granted, the slap was wrong, Will was defending his wife and made a bad decision. Very soon afterwards, Will realized the err in approaching Chris Rock on stage live at the 94th annual Academy Awards and apologized.
Will and Jada founded the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation to benefit inner-city community development, youth educational projects, and underprivileged children and their families, and Will has been named one of the most generous celebrities. He has lived an upstanding life, he made a mistake, doesn’t he deserve to be forgiven? Joe Rogan stepped forward and wants Will forgiven, should other people in the public eye come forward and do the same?
