Linda Perhacs is safe after the 82-year-old American psychedelic folk singer-songwriter went missing for eight months, but officers located her alive on July 29, 2026.
The First Report
The Daily Mail reported that LA Police confirmed via their missing persons unit that she was located.
“She was found today. She’s safe. We can’t share where as it involves her HIPAA,” the LAPD statement said.
That update ended months of fear and worry for her friends, fans, and acquaintances.

Linda Perhacs didn’t initially do well in her music career and her first effort, Parallelograms back in 1970, flopped. But many years after that music fans rediscovered her talent.
She managed to find a cult following and other stars also took up her style. Devendra Banhart and Joanna Newsom come to mind.
Later, she started music again and managed to produce The Soul of All Natural Things in 2014. Later, her 2017 I’m A Harmony was welcomed by many aficionados.

Her Disappearance
In late July 2026, her former manager Laurel Stearns was concerned about her wellbeing. At the time, it became apparent that Perhacs had been discharged from a residential care facility in California eight months earlier.
Her co-producer, Fernando Perdomo, openly expressed serious concern. According to friends, Perhacs struggles with dementia, and they reached out to her legal guardian but they didn’t get any response.
By June the LAPD filed a missing persons report. and that helped to speed things up. Stearns and music video director Jessica Hundley along with musicians Julia Holter and Mark McNeill, put out an appeal for help
People Helped Look For Her
Parade covered the story and reported that fans and fellow musicians quickly mobilised to help search for Linda Perhacs.
Within forty-eight hours, those calls for assistance brought positive results and the police managed to locate her. Just forty-eight hours after that plea went out, police found her.
She’s safe for the time being but not many more details arrived to explain her disappearance. The police are not currently saying where she was found and that involves privacy laws.

Still, for friends who know her well, it’s a big relief to know that she is safe and they stop worrying so much.
The details about the legal guardian were not disclosed either, and so far, there haven’t been any reports of wrongdoing.
