Royal Family News: BAFTA Host Rebel Wilson Roasts Prince Harry, Meghan, And Andrew

British royal family news teases that comedienne and actress Rebel Wilson is taking aim at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as she gets set to host the 2022 BAFTA Film Awards this weekend. Best known for her roles in Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect, she talked on ITV’s This Morning to Alison Hammond.

Hammond asked Wilson what she is thinking as she prepares to step into some mighty big shoes. The Aussie actress said, “I don’t know. I would say, I have presented awards at the BAFTAs and it’s gone pretty well.”

The show cut to a clip from Steven Spielberg’s flop West Side Story in which the cast danced to a song titled America. The words, “I like to be in America / Okay by me America” rang out and Wilson cracked, “Meghan and Harry’s new theme song.”

West Side Story died a straight to DVD death at the box office yet is up for five awards at this year’s BAFTAs, including Sound, Production Design, Casting, Supporting Actress for Ariana DeBose and Supporting Actor for Mike Faist.

Harry and Meghan abandoned the royal family and the UK in January 2020. They wanted to live a life of “financial freedom” and are now famous for taking millions from Netflix and Spotify and doing zero work in return as they lounge about in their US mansion, occasionally dressing up, sneaking out and taking photo ops with the disadvantaged.

The media have lumped Harry and Meghan in with disgraced Prince Andrew as a sort of semi-detached royal clan scandal cloud.

In her statement announcing she is the event hosting, Wilson referenced Prince Andrew’s, “peculiar medical condition where I can’t sweat” and made jokes about her own record weight loss.

“I am very honored to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March, where COVID will no longer exist because it will clearly have been cancelled by then,” Wilson said.

“It’s going to be so much fun! I don’t wanna put any pressure on this – I know I’m not going to be funny because I am no longer fat. And besides, I’m not going to ‘sweat-it’ with nerves because I have a peculiar medical condition where I can’t sweat… or cause offense to people because of my adorable Australian accent.”

The 2022 BAFTA Film Awards take place Sunday, March 13 and will be broadcast on BBC One at 7pm.
