Liz passes out homework assignments for the weekend well Bill tries to figure out what is in the saloons meals when it comes to spices. When Lucas asks why he’s asking, Bill plays like he’s curious. He heads back to the cafe to tell the others.

Down at the store, Bill tries to get his hands on some smoked paprika. Ned shared that his stomach hurts and Bill suggests it might be from the saloon.

Rosemary sits with Clara for lunch will discuss the wedding. Clara wants a simple dress while Rosemary tells her that she needs something spectacular since it’s her second wedding and she missed out on a great dress for her first wedding.

Elizabeth runs into the alley at the store who is upset because she’s having a sleepover and she has no good ideas for snacks. Elizabeth offers to bake cupcakes and drop them off later. Allie is thrilled.

Ned goes to visit Dr. Shepherd about his pain in the stomach. The doctor isn’t in so the nurse suggests he should drink cabbage juice and come back in the morning.

On their way out of the store, Elizabeth and Allie run into a man who claims he is Allie’s grandfather. Nathan shows up just in time to confirm that it is his dad. He sends Allie on her way and takes his dad back to jail so they can talk. It just so happens his dad just got out of prison. Nathan doesn’t want a relationship with him and he doesn’t want Allie to see him either.

On their way home, Elizabeth and Allie talk. Elizabeth explains why her uncle may have sent her on her way. Meanwhile, Lucas gets word that Ned was sick after supposedly eating his goulash at the saloon. Florence is in the room. Lucas tells her not a word. She smiles, knowing it is too late.

Elizabeth drops the baby Jack off at Rosemary’s to head to Nathan’s to see the girls. They talk about how Nathan’s dad is in town and how they are estranged. Rosemary thinks Elizabeth should offer some advice to him.

At the saloon, Nathan’s father turns down cards but buys everyone around. Meanwhile, at Nathan’s, Elizabeth has some fun with the girls and an uptight Nathan.

Rosemary and Leland hang with the baby. She tells him all about her day and how no-one will take her advice. He asks if anyone asked her for her advice. This gets her thinking and admitting that no-one did ask. Maybe she should keep it to herself?

After the girls go to bed, Elizabeth and Nathan talk. She suggests that maybe he hear Allie out even if he knows his dad will most likely break her heart.

In the morning, Nathan asks his dad to leave when he sees him in town. He isn’t going, he is a free man now, he tells Nathan.

Dr. Shepard sees Ned and shares he has an ulcer. Bill is nearby, listening in. Dr. Shepard tells him to drink cabbage juice just like Faith said. After Ned leaves, Faith shares that she once wanted to be a doctor. This has Dr. Shepard smiling and thinking.

Elizabeth and Allie sit to talk. Allie reads a list she made for all of the reasons she wants to see her grandfather.

Bill pays Lucas a visit and shares what he learned about Ned. Now they need to get the town to retreat them again.

Allie reads her list to Nathan with Elizabeth there. On the list are his protection and guidance if she needs it. This has him thinking.

Bill and Lucas go to Florence to have her spread the word about their eating establishments. She smiles and agrees to go door to door.

Dr. Shepherd talks to him possibly being her mentor. She did say she once dreamed of being a doctor. Maybe he can help with that and keep her in town. She said she’ll think about it.

Nathan pays his father a visit and invites him to sit with him and Allie at the barbecue. He hopes he is on the street and narrow path. His father tells him he is really trying this time.

Clara and Elizabeth and Rosemary are all in the kitchen prepping the barbecue. They get to talking about Nathan and his father. Rosemary bites her tongue until Elizabeth finally asks her for an opinion. Rosemary is thrilled to get one!

At the barbecue, Elizabeth and Allie sit with Allie’s grandfather laughing and telling stories. Meanwhile, Nathan gets a call in regards to his father.

Clara finally told Rosemary that she wants to try to design her own dress. Rosemary hugs her. Meanwhile, Jesse asked Leland to be his best man. He accepts.

Nathan picks up his dad at the barbecue. He is being arrested for suspicion of robbery. It seems a diamond necklace has gone missing in Benson Hills and he was there last.
