Hints For Season 6 After John Dutton’s Death

Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton was killed off in Season 5. Actually, the backlash was severe, and surprising, After all, he’d announced his departure in 2023. But, it seemed that a gunshot to the head wasn’t what viewers liked to see. 

Of course, John Dutton was the mainstay of the Yellowstone show. Initially, the thought that he was gone meant that there was an acceptance that the show might not get a renewal for Season 6. Hope springs eternal it seems. And, a very small hint might portend that possibility.

Would Season 6 Be Successful without Kevin Costner?

The show could run on without Kevin Costner, as far as many Peacock fans are concerned. In fact, it might be an opportunity for the show to move from Peacock to Paramount+. And, there are plenty of storylines still available. Actually, the soap opera that it became could satisfy soapies for years to come. 

On Reddit, the fact that Puck News reported that “Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser were in talks for Season 6,” went largely unnoticed. But notably, Paramount didn’t respond to it. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, but it was rather old speculation.

Some fans definitely hope for more of Yellowstone and don’t grow tired of it at all. Here are some reactions:

It was Cartermatt who predicted the possibility that even without John Dutton, the show could go on. It came after they spotted a hint that it might happen. It’s small, but not insignificant. This week, the outlet wrote:

Paramount’s latest promo hinted at a “season finale” rather than a “series finale.” This is actually a trend that they’ve continued for most of the past couple of months, as they have been pretty careful to never actually claim that season 5 is the complete and total end.
