General Hospital spoilers reveal that there is drama going on Twitter between actor Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) and Days of Our Lives head writer Ron Carlivati. As fans know, Carlivati used to be over at GH. Both soaps were nominated for the Writers Guild Award, so Benard sent congratulations to Carlivati. However, the scribe had a bitter response.
General Hospital Spoilers – Writers Guild Award Nominations
GH spoilers reveal that the soap has been nominated for the Writers Guild Award, as has Days of Our Lives. It’s always exciting to be nominated for awards and Benard decided to send congratulations to his own soap’s writing team as well as DOOL. However, his words were not taken kindly by Carlivati and it seems there is some bad history between the two.
GH Spoilers – Emoji Causes Twitterstorm
On Twitter, Benard sent words of congratulations to everyone mentioned in a reply to a tweet by Daytime Confidentiality. Carlivati didn’t’ respond to Benard’s congratulations with any words. However, one emoji did create a Twitterstorm. It was an emoji rolling its eyes. That’s when issues from the past started being brought up. Some fans knew exactly what the beef between Benard and Carlivati was about, but others were confused.
General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard Clarifies His ‘Power’
General Hospital spoilers reveal that there is word that Carlivati blames Benard for him getting fired from the long-running ABC soap. Benard explained on Twitter that he didn’t get the head writer fired. He also clarified that he doesn’t have the power to fire anyone at the soap because if he did, some people wouldn’t still be working there.
“I don’t have the power to get anyone fired. If I did trust me there would’ve been at least a handful of individuals that would’ve been gone. So stop with the nonsense unless you know the facts.”

General Hospital Spoilers: Soap Drama Off-Screen
Fans are used to seeing drama unfold on-screen. However, just like with any job, there is plenty of drama once the cameras stop rolling. The history of daytime shows us just how fiery tempers can get between co-stars, producers, writers, and everyone in between. While not everyone is going to get along and there will be resentment between certain people, sometimes it’s better to just stay silent, give a smile, and say “thank you.” Carlivati’s response has not only GH fans talking, but DOOL viewers too. Nothing good can come from instigating a war. Use emojis responsibly, everyone.
What do you think of Carlivati’s eye-rolling response to Benard’s congratulations about the Writers Guild Award nominations? Do you think the DOOL head writer just should have said thank you instead of responding the way he did?
