Amber Heard best know for being Johnny Depp’s ex-wife played the character of the Atlantean queen, Mera, in DC’s Justice League (2017) and later in Aquaman (2018), but there are doubts as to whether she would be reprising her role for the next addition to the Justice League Extended Universe, Aquaman franchise.
Amber Herd News – Fired From The Show Due To Failure To Comply With The Contract
According to different sources, Heard was fired from the show after failing to pass the physical examination that would enable her to return to her role in the action film, which is stunt-filled and physically demanding.
“She’s put on some pounds and is in terrible shape,” a mystery source commented, also adding “that there is a clause in the contract which says she is required to be in good form ahead of shooting and she violated that.”
According to an entertainment publication What Culture report, Warner Bros was eyeing Emilia Clarke to take over the role, which if she does would mean that she’d star alongside her Game of Thrones co-star Jason Momoa. However, the site notes that it is possible that she could return to the project, but only if she gets her health back on track.
This news and wide-spread speculation is happening amid Heard’s much-discussed legal battle with actor Johnny Depp, whom she accused of coordinating a harassment campaign via Twitter, along with giving rise to online petitions, all in an effort to get her fired from Aquaman and L’Oreal.
Daniel Richtman said on his patreon account, “Amber Heard thinks WB is spreading rumors about her firing from Aquaman 2 to pressure her to leave on her own to show her people want her gone.”
It should be said that WB had supported and stood by her previously.
Amber Herd News – Audience Reaction To Reports Of Heard’s Dismissal
The views and comments from the audience has been varied, from some believing that it was right for her to leave the role, to others saying that the rumors were baseless, and yet others have declared their enthusiasm to see Emilia Clarke cast in the role, proclaiming that it would be a valuable move for the movie.
The spotlight on Heard and Depp’s case, which has been prolonged by the recent delay in trials, already appears to make her in contention for multiple high-profile roles.
Heard’s rumored exit is unrelated to an ongoing request for Warner Bros and DC entertainment to remove her from the role, citing that the company would be glamorizing a known domestic abuser. Her removal from the role would also please the nearly 2 million people who signed the petition to have her exit the movie.
