Meghan Markle Didn’t Open Gifts At Her Baby Shower

Meghan Markle was surrounded with nothing but love during her star-studded baby shower in New York City this past week. And while there was plenty of food, games, and great conversation, there was one thing the Duchess of Sussex didn’t do at her shower, and that’s open up her gifts.

CBS This Morning anchor Gayle King attended the baby shower along with celebrities like Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Priyanka Chopra, Abigail Spencer and stylist Jessica Mulroney, and many others.

Meghan Wanted To Open Gifts With Prince Harry

While it’s part of the baby shower tradition to open up gifts in front of guests, Meghan Markle opted not to do so. That’s not because she’s not grateful. Instead, she just wanted to open all of the special gifts in front of her husband.

King explained on CBS News: “She wants to do that when (Prince) Harry and her are back together, so I really don’t know what everybody got her. I think I got her something very nice.”

Gayle also said that the guests got to make their own flower arrangements, which they later donated to local charities in the New York City area.

Royal Baby Is Due The Last Week Of April

“I thought it was a very sweet thing, it just speaks to who she is. She’s very kind, she’s very generous and a really, really sweet person,” Gayle said, although she didn’t add any more details about the shower.

This will be the first child for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. While Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the Duchess of Sussex and her pregnancy, the Los Angeles-born royal did tell a well-wisher in January that she is due the last week of April.

The Duke of Sussex receives the salute from @RoyalMarines recruits completing their final Commando Test, a 30-mile march which starts at the north end of Dartmoor and finishes near Plymouth.
