British Royal Family news reveals Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, welcomed their second child and first daughter on Friday, June 4. The birth of their daughter was made public on Sunday, as a spokesperson confirmed that mother and child are both fine.
The Sussexes’ infant daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor received some love from her aunt and uncle from across the ocean, who congratulated the growing family on the arrival of their daughter.
Royal experts have been remarking on the Cambridges’ PR strategy change, which they reportedly did to appear less formal and more approachable to their fans, and their latest message to the Sussexes is proof of that.
Prince William and Kate Middleton were forced to alter their public image, from their very formal decorum to a public image that’s slightly less formal, in their bid to counteract Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “truth bombs” about the royal family.
Royal Commentator Believes Royal Press Team Wants To Change the Cambridges’ Public Image
In 2019, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their son Archie, they received congratulatory messages from members of the royal family.
“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news of the birth of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son today, and look forward to meeting the latest addition to the family,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote on Instagram at the time.
Two years after the birth of their first child, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their second child and received a congratulatory message from Prince William and Kate Middleton that’s quite different from the one they received after Archie’s birth.
The Cambridges’ took a less formal approach in their congratulatory message to the Sussexes on the arrival of their daughter Lilibet.
“We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan, and Archie,” the couple wrote on Instagram.
This is markedly different from the other message written two years ago in that it was written in the first person and it refers to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by their first names, instead of using their titles. Also, it reads more “personal” than the first one.
Royal commentator, Kinsey Schofield, broke down the reason behind the post’s tone and why that might be part of a wider plan to change their image.
Prince Charles and Camilla’s Instagram post about Lili mentioned the couple using their first names, perhaps “to add a depth of warmth” to their message, Schofield remarked.
The royal family’s account, which represents Buckingham Palace and the Queen, referred to the pair as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The Cambridges PR Strategy Change is predictably done to Better Control Damage Done by the Sussexes’ Tell-all Interview
Schofield, the founder of the website To Di for Daily, told Insider that it is possible that Clarence House’s and Kensington Palace’s public relations might have “teamed up to weather this storm” brought on by Harry and Meghan’s controversial statements regarding the royal family.
Harry and Meghan made a number of accusatory comments directed at the royal family during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.
They called the British royal family an institution that traps people, made claims of racism within the royal family from an unnamed member of it, and allegedly accused the royal family of doing nothing when they were approached several times regarding Meghan Markle’s suicidal thoughts during her first pregnancy.
The Duchess also opened up about her sister-in-law Kate Middleton making her cry a few days before her wedding with Prince Harry, instead of the other way around as was published by the media.

“Things have been rocky for the entire family since the Oprah interview online, but Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have been dodging negative feedback on social media since November thanks to ‘The Crown’ Netflix series,” Schofield told Insider.
Meanwhile, the Cambridges have made a number of public appearances since the Sussexes’ March interview with Oprah, and in each of those appearances, they are more intimate with each other.
They’ve also shared personal family videos of the royals running around with their kids, cooking s’mores, and generally having a fun time. The royal couple also launched their YouTube channel with a personal 30-second video. It’s no coincidence that this is all happening in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s explosive interview.
