Coronation Street spoilers announce the terrific news that star Cherylee Houston will soon film scenes as her character Izzy Armstrong from her own home, and she has a very special costar to boot, her real-life partner Toby Hadoke.

Houston has been gone from the show since March 2020. She has a rare connective tissue disorder, and that means she has had to be extra cautious during the coronavirus pandemic.

Houston was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome when she was 23. She said, “There’s 14.1 million people in the UK, that’s one in five of us. We are employees, carers, front line workers, volunteers and a key part of every community.”

“The pandemic has had an incredible impact on many disabled people due to social isolation, certain services being unavailable and a lack of understanding.”

She added, “There’s currently 4.4 million disabled workers in the UK. We experience almost double the unemployment statistics compared to our non-disabled peers (mostly due to prejudice or lack of reasonable adjustments). I have been unbelievably fortunate that my employers enabled me to continue shielding after the official shielding guidance ended in March.”

She went on to thank show execs for standing by her as the pandemic rages on.

“I’ve been so supported by ITV, but I’m aware that many of my disabled peers who were previously shielding haven’t had that safety and have been forced to make the decision to earn money to survive whilst facing the real fear of death or serious illness through COVID.”

We have a few details about her upcoming storyline and we think you’ll like it! Fans will see Toby’s character, Fergus, forced to intervene with Underworld boss Carla Connor (Alison King) when Carla gets on Izzy’s case.

She doesn’t like the quality of Izzy’s work and demands that Izzy improve or she’ll fire her. This plot sounds all kinds of intriguing, and we see a ton of storyline potential for Izzy and Fergus.
