Stealing someone’s identity for whatever reason was much more difficult to do back then before the Internet and computers and smartphones became accessible for most people. To change a birth certificate, someone would have to break into a courthouse and steal one, reproduce it with different details, and replace it! Perhaps, as many fans of The Young and The Restless theorize, Gaines’ late father or perhaps even Gaines himself was the witness who saw what really happened!

The Young and The Restless spoilers show that against the warnings of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and the Newman family, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will continue to dig into Locke’s past. Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) dug up more truth than any of Billy’s investigators have so far!

Victor even has Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) keeping tabs on Billy, who will soon have some shocking information fall into his lap! Only Victor knows that “Ashland” has been blackmailed by Gaines – and paid him off. But that doesn’t mean that Gaines hasn’t taken Billy up on his offer unbeknownst to Victor or “Ashland”.

Nick had talked to someone covering the car accident at the time for the news, who mentioned a witness who saw a kid run into the woods but the police didn’t pursue him. Perhaps Billy uses his news contacts to track down other witnesses or Gaines tells him what really happened the day the two teens got into that fatal wreck!

The Young And The Restless Spoilers And Rumors – Maybe The Original Ashland Locke Wasn’t Dead Or Didn’t Die That Way

Viewers of The Young and The Restless will recall that when “Ashland” came out with the truth, or at least part of it, to Victoria and Nick, he told them his friend was already dead behind the wheel of the car when it was getting ready to explode. He also knew that the real Ashland Locke had already secured a job with Camila Rhodes (uncast character) through talking to her on the phone. Perhaps he wasn’t dead pinned behind the wheel of the car, or perhaps if he was he didn’t die that way at all.

The Young and The Restless spoilers hint fans may find out in future episodes that the original Ashland was alive and Bobby DeFranco set the car on fire, and that is what Gaines has been blackmailing “Ashland” over all these years! Nick found proof of the wreck and that one person died, but the car was already on fire by the time help arrived. Perhaps Bobby DeFranco killed Ashland Locke and wrecked the car to cover up the crime but it would be hard to prove so many years after the fact. If a witness saw him set fire to the car and run, however, that would be much different!
