Dwayne Johnson Joins Festive Amazon Film “Red One”

Are we finally going to get Dwanta Claus on the big screen? The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Dwayne Johnson could be getting festive and a little too jolly as Santa Claus in the holiday movie, coming from director Jake Kasdan of “Jumanji” fame.

Dwayne Johnson to Spread Some Cheer in “Globe-trotting Action Comedy”

The announcement may be coming just in time for the holidays, but we won’t be getting the movie until, well, the ghost of two Christmas futures pass on.

Dwayne Johnson will be reuniting with “Jumanji” director Jake Kasdan for the Holiday movie. The pair last worked together in the 2019 film “Jumanji: The Next Level”.

I know this is not my place, but I totally see a Christmas movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Jack Black as making a whole lotta sense. Wishful thinking?

The 49-year-old actor has been added to the project “Red One” in a currently undisclosed role. THR reports that he could star in the Christmas movie as Santa Claus.

Along with appearing in “Red One”, Dwayne Johnson will also produce the project through his company Seven Bucks Productions. Amazon has not released much information about the upcoming festive film, but per THR, it is set to be “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

“Red One” will begin filming next year and will Premiere in 2023.

Meet Dwayne Johnson’s Alter-ego Dwanta Claus

While Dwayne Johnson is yet to play the popular big fictional character “ho-ho-hoing” on his sleigh around the world in just one night, he has gotten into character several holiday seasons with his improved version: Dwanta Claus.

In a 2017 video posted to his YouTube channel, Johnson chatted about what Dwanta Claus represents after doing a photoshoot as his character for an Entertainment Weekly cover.

“Who is Dwanta Claus, you might ask … Well, he’s non-denominational, he takes care of everybody around the world, he’s a little bit naughty, a little bit nice, he may drink a little bit of tequila, but that’s for another time,” he joked. “He just wants to spread as much joy as possible to everybody around the world.”

As fans wait for the arrival of “Red One”, they can still see him in other upcoming projects. Premiering on November 5 on Netflix, Dwayne Johnson, alongside Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds, will thrill action and comedy fans in “Red Notice”.

Johnson is also starring in two films coming out next year: the animated movie “DC League of Super Pets”, in which he voices Krypto and in “Black Adam” as the titular character.
