British royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth did not appear at the Remembrance Sunday ceremony today as promised, sparking more fears about the state of her health. Her aides had vowed she would not miss the event but for the first time in 22 years she was absent from what has been said to be one of the most significant engagements on her calendar.
Buckingham Palace stated that her absence was due to a back injury, and that Her Majesty was “disappointed” to miss the event.
Royal Family News – What Is The State Of The Queen’s Health?
According to the palace the 95-year-old monarch made the decision on Sunday morning, “with great regret.” She was expected to attend the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in London after missing two key events after spending the night in the hospital last month. Her doctors released her with instructions to avoid in-person events for two weeks and she was relegated to light desk duty.
The queen was an army driver and mechanic in World War II and the palace previously said it was her “firm intention” to attend the wreath-laying service in Whitehall.
She spent the night in the hospital on October 20 and her ailment has still not been disclosed. The news of her hospitalization was leaked forcing the palace to confirm the news. Her absence today is said to be due to a “back sprain” and unrelated to her previous ailment.
