British royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth has had a tumultuous year as 2021 draws to a close. In April she lost her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip. In October she was hospitalized overnight for an undisclosed illness and in November she has been sidelined by her doctors from undertaking public duties. And throughout the year she has had to deal with the tantrums and rants of her royal runaway grandson Prince Harry.
It should come as no surprise then that it’s being reported that Her Majesty has doubled down on her work habits, something that she takes “comfort” in after going through the, “most difficult time of her reign.”
Royal Family News – The Queen Was Hospitalized In October
Royal watcher Katie Nicholl told OK! that despite cancelling several key public events, the queen has never been more engaged in her workload. The Vanity Fair writer noted that her work provides her with a distraction from the other events of her personal life even though she recently she had to cancel an in-person appearance for Remembrance Sunday due to a back injury.
Katie said that the monarch enjoys her job and that it, “keeps her young.”
“Behind the scenes, in private, it’s probably been the hardest time of her reign…In [Philip’s] absence, her family is incredibly important. They are everything.”
Royal Family News – The Queen Lost Her Husband in April
Prince Philip died at the age of 99 in April. He passed away at Windsor Castel, surrounded by his loved ones. After a brief period of mourning, the queen was back to a rigorous work schedule. Was it too much, too soon?
That’s impossible to know, and only the queen knows what her limits are. But if she is pouring herself into her work as a means of keeping her mind off of any troubles, it may have backfired and led to her recent medical scares.

Royal Family News – The Queen Wants to Have a Large Family Christmas
In October the queen was hospitalized for one night, and the news was leaked forcing the palace to confirm it. Since then she has cancelled several appearances and done her work via teleconferencing. Now it’s being reported that she is looking forward to a large family gathering at Christmastime, on the heels of her statement that no one lives forever. Perhaps the queen is getting sentimental and melancholy at the age of 95?
