“Coronation Street” has aired its devastating episode for Emma Booker as the police arrested her groom, Curtis Delamere for a crime he denied during their wedding ceremony.
Previously, an overwhelmed Emma confided with her sister, Amy (Elle Mulvaney) about Curtis’ factitious disorder, and Amy convinced her she should cancel the wedding.
Tonight’s (December 20) double bill has proven Emma (Alexandra Mardell) was double-minded for sticking with Curtis (Sam Retford) despite discovering he’s mentally ill, as she waited for her groom in her pink wedding dress.
The drama unfolded when Amy, who was the only one who knew about Curtis’ secret, dropped the bombshell revelation that Curtis was faking his heart disease to her father Steve (Simon Gregson) who suspected his soon-to-be son-in-law of taking the charity money, as Oliver’s charity announced they did not receive the promised £100k.
Steve and Amy rushed into Curtis’ apartment to find him only to learn that the latter had prepared to leave the country, which strengthened Steve’s allegations.
At the wedding venue, the atmosphere turned sour when the groom was taking longer than usual, and when Emma was convinced he ran away, Curtis entered the room.
But Steve and Amy were still missing, and to start with the ceremony, Tracy (Kate Ford) made a touching decision by sending her stepdaughter away in replace of Steve.
However, the couple hasn’t had the chance to exchange “I do” as the police cut short the ceremony and arrested Curtis for money theft.

Steve comforted a heartbroken Emma, saying that he won’t let her regret her decision while Curtis was taken to the police for questioning.
“I swear I transferred that money into the account,” Curtis declared.
When Curtis was given the chance to see Emma, he confessed he’s not lying about his love for her, and not in any bit interested in running away, instead, he has already arranged a surprise honeymoon out of the country with her.
But Emma had enough and announced coldly: “I am staying at my dad’s tonight. And when I get home, I want you gone.”
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Steve Mcdonald Makes A Grave Mistake
Just when the viewers were convinced Curtis is the villain, Steve received a phone call a few minutes before the episode ended. The charity informed him they already got the money after some “technical issue” but Steve took on a protective father role and hid this truth from Emma, telling her it’s best to cancel the wedding. Will he regret his decision?

Corrie fans also did not like how the episode ended with Steve being unfair to the situation.
“I actually feel a bit sorry for Curtis. I know he’s lied about being ill which obviously isn’t right, but I do think he wants to get help & change. People with factitious disorder rarely admit the truth, so the fact he has says a lot. Plus I do believe he loves Emma,” a fan commented.
