Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of grooming young women for the sex trafficking trade and she faces a potentially long time in prison. Well, she appealed it, so it’s not clear what her sentence might end up as. A documentary, Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile, on ITV, infuriated viewers as they felt it gave a sympathetic slant to Ghislaine.
Ghislaine Maxwell Documentary Featured Ranvir Singh
If you don’t know, Ranvir Singh is a presenter with Good Morning Britain. She also starred on Strictly Come Dancing. Well, she has extensive experience as a journalist and worked on the BBC’s North West Tonight, Daybreak, and also co-hosted The Martin Lewis Money Show. But, this week, viewers hatred the way she came over in the new documentary titled Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Paedophile. In fact, on social media, a lot of outrage was expressed about it.
Ranvir Singh interviewed the brother of Ghislaine Maxwell in the documentary. The Metro reported that the tone of it seemed sympathetic to the convicted sex trafficker. According to the outlet, Ian Maxwell was brought in because of the family appealing her conviction. As the outlet cited a BBC rep as saying, “For good reason, it is unusual to interview the relative of a convicted criminal after the end of a court case, and this was a finely balanced editorial judgment.” Well, it was clearly not a decision that appealed to viewers.
Ghislaine Maxwell Documentary Offensive, Viewers Claim
Ian, naturally, supports his sister and he told Ranvir that the family totally believes in her innocence. Actually, the tone of it seemed to suggest that she’s a victim. In part, he said, “I have devoted a lot of my time, as have my brothers and sisters, to help. We believe her, we love her, and we hope that she will get the justice that she definitely deserves.” Additionally, he sounded angry that everyone else doesn’t see the whole trial as “wrong.”
The brother of Ghislaine Maxwell also turned on the tears and came over as broken by allegedly false accusations against his sister. Well, a lot of people found it distasteful and offensive. So, they took to Twitter to vent about it. ITV and Good Morning Britain took a lot of heat for including the interview in the documentary. Actually, this sort of coverage might even have some bearing on Prince Andrew’s issues with Virginia Giuffre. She claims Maxwell and Epstein trafficked her and forced her to sleep with Andrew.
