Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made one thing pretty loud and clear: they’ve got other priorities in their life, at least when it comes to President Donald Trump and his family.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Absent From State Banquet
In fact, a lot of royal observers couldn’t help but notice that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were absent during Monday’s night State Banquet with the United States President, despite being high-ranking members of the royal family. Here’s what you need to know.
While Meghan Markle is currently on her maternity leave (the Duchess gave birth to her son Archie Harrison back on May 6th), her husband Prince Harry was no where to be seen. However, he did briefly appear while the Trumps were checking out some of the American gifts that the British royal family have received over the years at Buckingham Palace.
Prince Harry Keeps Distance From Donald Trump
For a moment, Harry did look as though he was engaging in a conversation with Ivanka Trump but left the room after a few short minutes. He also kept his distance from Donald Trump, who just last week called his wife Meghan ‘nasty.’
And while a lot of critics think it’s rather odd that an American-born Duchess couldn’t find the time in her schedule to meet with the President of the United States during his official visit to London, others’ aren’t surprised at all.
That’s because back in 2016, Meghan stated that she was no fan of Trump. She called his politics divisive and even hinted that he was misogynistic. Donald Trump responded by telling The Sun in an interview last week, “I didn’t know she was nasty.” Trump later denied calling Markle nasty, despite audio evidence of the remark.

Trump Makes Not-So-Nice Comments About Princess Dianna In The Past
Many British and American media outlets have also pointed out that Trump had some very not-so-nice things to say about Prince William and Prince Harry’s mother Princess Diana and Kate Middleton in the past.
So far both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not made any comments about Trump’s visit to London or why they decided to skip the royal banquet. Either way, it doesn’t look like they will be saying anything at this point.
