British royal family news shows that Prince Harry is the latest UK prince to make headlines in a week in which royals dominated the news.
According to the Daily Mail, Prince Charles’ son could be questioned by Scotland Yard as a witness in the pay-to-play scheme involving his father’s business associate Michael Fawcett. It was announced today they have opened an investigation and ironically it was Prince Harry who last year made the sensational claim against Fawcett and a Saudi billionaire donor. Subsequently, “Charles’ senior aide was forced to resign as head of The Prince’s Foundation over his role in the scandal.”
Royal Family News – Prince Harry Could Be Questioned
Late last year Harry boasted that he cut off contact with Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz, “a year before Prince Charles presented the controversial Saudi billionaire with a CBE.”
Charles’ aides assert that he had, “no knowledge” of the “cash for access” allegations leveled against Fawcett after the Saudi donor received the award.
Harry is on record saying said he was concerned about the businessman’s “motives” after he had a private meeting with Mahfouz, who has donated large sums to charities associated with Prince Charles. The upshot is that the billionaire gave the money, “in the hope of obtaining an honour and British citizenship,” according to the Daily Mail.
Royal Family News – What Is Charles’ Association To Pay For Play?
After news of the investigation broke today, Charles’ friend and biographer Jonathan Dimbleby asserted that it is, “extraordinarily unlikely,” that he knew about the alleged pay to play deal.
Dimbleby insisted that Charles, the Prince of Wales, “would have had no idea one of his charities may have been helping a Saudi billionaire get a knighthood and British citizenship.”

He went on to say that anyone who compared this apparent scandal with disgraced Prince Andrew’s scandal was wrong to do so. On Tuesday Prince Andrew and his sexual assault accuser settled their court case out of court with Andrew purportedly giving the accuser millions without admitting guilt.
The royal watcher also dismissed claims by Ex-Liberal Democrat minister Norman Baker, “who filed a criminal complaint about the matter last year, that he found it ‘difficult to understand’ how Charles could have been completely ignorant of the affair.” Charles’ friend asserted, “That’s a very colorful thing to say. Inconceivable suggests there is no possibility other than that he knew. I think it’s extraordinarily unlikely that he knew.”
