West Side Story Star Rachel Zeglar Gets Invited To 2022 Oscars

Rachel Zeglar, who stars as María Vasquez, in West Side Story has been added to the list of A-listers on the 94th Annual Academy Awards.

On Wednesday, Show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan announced the final slate of presenters for the 94th Annual Academy Award which would be taking place on Sunday, March 27, at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

Rachel replied to a comment on her latest Instagram post saying that even though she starred in the remake of the iconic movie musical which is up for seven awards, she wasn’t invited to the Oscars.

West Side Story is nominated for an enormous seven awards; Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Ariana DeBose), Best Director (Steven Spielberg), Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, and Best Sound. Few days after she made that comment, she was added to the list, which was frankly already piled with fellow Hollywood A-listers like; Halle Berry, Jamie Lee Curtis, Zoë Kravitz, Elliot Page, Shaun White, Lupita Nyong’o, Yuh-Jung Youn, Rami Malek, Tyler Perry etc. She gets to join the likes of Jason Momoa, Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jill Scott, J.K. Simmons, Serena Williams and Venus Williams and more.

West Side Story – From Not Invited To Finally Invited:

In Rachel’s latest Instagram post, a fan wrote “Can’t wait to see what you’ll be wearing on Oscar night,” in the comments section and Rachel replied directly to them, saying: “I’m not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”

But then a few days after that, she was added to the list. She explained further in a follow-up comment that she had tried to gain entry to the Oscars without luck. Rachel said “[I don’t know] y’all I have tried it all but it doesn’t seem to be happening,” she wrote. “I will root for West Side Story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago.”

West Side Story – Musical Artists to perform at the Oscars:

Some musical artists have also been invited to perform four of five of the songs that were nominated for Oscars 2022. These artists are Beyoncé, Billie Eilish and Finneas, Reba McEntire, and Sebastián Yatra.

The Oscars ceremony will be aired live on ABC and broadcast via outlets worldwide on Sunday, March 27, 20,22 at Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, 8 p.m. EDT/5 p.m. PDT.
