British Royal family news reveals the Queen is reportedly suffering from the physical disadvantages of age, and apart from not being able to stand for long periods of time, she can only walk for short distances. In light of her advanced age, measures are being taken to ensure that the soon-to-be 96-year-old is as comfortable as possible, on or off duty.
Whilst honoring Commonwealth Day, the monarch renewed her promise to its 52 countries, vowing to devote the rest of her life to service.
Prince Charles Could Step in For Her Majesty At Parliament
Apart from the Queen deciding to solely stay in Windsor Castle, where she and Prince Philip spent their last days together, “a number of changes” have been made to accommodate the elderly royal’s current strength and health.
This is coming after plans for Prince Charles to step in for Her Majesty at an event in May was disclosed. While the Queen was able to attend her husband’s memorial service at Westminster Abbey, it’s unknown whether her health can allow her to put in an appearance at the upcoming State Opening of Parliament event.
Speaking to Australian TV broadcaster 9Honey, royal reporter Natalie Oliveri noted that “a number of changes have been made to suit the Queen’s comfort at Parliament”.
Among these changes are the Queen permanently dropping her “very heavy imperial state crown” and taking “the lift and not the stairs”.
She added that “Prince Charles has been at her side in the past so we could see do the Queen’s speech this year” at the State Opening of Parliament event “but only time will tell”.
Ms. Oliveri continued: “This is the big speech that lays out the government’s plan for the next year.” Per the reporter, Her Majesty values her speech as “incredibly important”.

The Queen recently made headlines for allowing her disgraced son, Prince Andrew, to escort her to the service. It was Andrew’s major public appearance since his failed Newsnight interview in 2019. The 62-year-old Duke deleted his social media accounts shortly after being stripped of his military titles.
