This hint comes from Brad Bell, the daytime soap’s executive producer, following the shocking death of John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).

Fans are still shocked and still processing the death of Finn last week after Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) shot and killed her son. The incident left Steffy a single mother and a widow.
Finn and Steffy had a fairytale love story and closing the book on their romance are final and there’s nothing anyone can do about that. Even Novlan admitted that he was “pretty surprised.” However, the actor knew that anything can happen to his alter ego since he’s in a soap opera, and it’s what keeps people interested and engaged with the show.
His co-star, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood was also “super-surprised” and “speechless” just like their fans. Novlan also acknowledged that the untimely demise of his character was the “ultimate twist.” He hoped that his mother would change but his expectations eventually “came back to bite him in the worst possible way.”

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Brad Bell shared that letting Novlan go was a difficult decision that they had to make. He loved working with the actor. Not only that, Novlan’s character and Steffy made a wonderful couple. However, the decision has been made that because of this, Steffy will be on a different journey.
“It will be a sad chapter, and then, out of the darkness comes the light,” Bell shared.

“Though it’s a time of mourning for Steffy, a romance is in her future - something that’s quite unexpected,” she continued.
Steffy needs to process Finn’s death and face a life without him. So, it’s too early to drop a hint as to who will be her new love interest. Some fans think that it will be a love triangle between her, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). However, others want Steffy to meet a new man and start fresh. Meanwhile, others are still hoping that the soap would find a way to resurrect Finn in the future.

I am so sick of the Liam/stef repeat. It’s just Brooke, Ridge and Taylor repeated! Do we no longer have any other actors? Where’s Bill, Katie, Wyatt, Eric, Quinn! And give a decent storyline to Carter!!! What happened to the idea of him and Katie!!! Give us some variety!!!!!!!
I do NOT like taking Finn away from Steffy via killing him off. As for Bell's statement is was done to take Steffy on an unexpected journey……NOT INTERESTED! Her relationship was too new and the "journey" would have been GREAT to grow that relationship and place Sheila in a luny farm allowing Finn to visit her there and watch her "progress"!
I hate that they killed Finn. And if they do a Liam, Hope & Steffy triangle again I’m done with the show. Either get new writers or new characters. This show has become repeat repeat and repeat again. No new ideas
Brad, you've repeated the same story lines for years and it doesn't keep us interested it keeps up bored and not wanting to watch the show. I'd rather read the recaps then waste time watching the same story over and over again. B & B hasn't been exciting in years…. when are you going to change that????? New plots…. new writers…. we're waiting for something good to finally happen.

I am with you I have watched it ever since the beginning but I am done with this this back-and-forth relationships is crazy last step they remember that wonderful relationship with Finn because he is the father of that little boy it ain’t like the major Liam the father that boy now let’s Steffy grieve Finn and let her grow into a stronger woman and do not go back to destroy another marriage
