Bridgerton Spin-Off About Queen Charlotte Coming Soon

Following the success of Netflix’s Bridgerton, a prequel series is now in production. The upcoming show will focus in on the life of Queen Charlotte, the wife and socialite of King George III.

Bridgerton is based on the novels penned by author Julia Quinn with the series adapted by Grey’s Anatomy show runner Shonda Rimes. Rimes will also executive produce the prequel as well.

Bridgerton – Filming Has Kicked Off In London

Filming on Queen Charlotte kicked off this week with actress Gold Rosheuvel seen in her signature Queen Elizabeth attire as she attends a funeral. The prequel series will show viewers the Queen’s younger years. In other filming scenes, Gold Rosheuvel was seen riding in a horse drawn carriage and spending time with her assistant Brimsley played by actor Sam Clemmett.

“I think it’s really going to be interesting to see where she has come from and the things that have led her to her in the Bridgerton that we know and love,” actress Gold Rosheuvel said of the prequel.

Bridgerton – Queen Charlotte Will Feature More Steamy Scenes

Many fans complained that Bridgerton season 2 featured few risqué scenes when compared to the first season. Show runners have since announced that fans will get their fill when Queen Elizabeth makes its debut.

“Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I’m thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton,” Bela Bajaria , the Head of Global TV of Netlifx shared last year after the prequel was announced.

Bajaria went on to add, “Shonda and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled.”

Bridgerton – Other Bridgerton Stars To Appear

Queen Elizabeth will also involve a closer look at a younger Lady Danbury (played by Adjoa Andoh) and Violet Danbury (played by actress Ruth Gemmell). Actress India Amarteifio has been cast in the role of the young Queen Charlotte with actress Arsema Thomas as the young Lady Danbury and Corey Mylchreest as a young King George.
