British royal family news reveals that councillors in the city of York today voted unanimously to strip Prince Andrew of his Freedom of the City of York title. It comes after he settled a sexual abuse case out of court for millions of dollars in February. They also stated that the disgraced prince should now, “voluntarily renounce his Duke of York title,” or the queen should forcibly remove it from him if he refuses, “to do the right thing.”
The prince was branded “an utter disgrace” during the historic meeting in which councillors spent only 30 minutes debating the decision to unanimously strip him of the title.

The council also stated that the public has called for Andrew to be banned from attending horse racing events in York. According to the Daily Mail, the council described his, “clinging to the title Duke of York was described as a ‘stain’ on the city.”
The move will not come as a shock to Andrew as he knew in advance of the council’s intent. He was given the honor in 1987 and he has the dubious distinction of being the first person to have the Freedom of the City removed.
Lib Dem Darryl Smalley is the City of York Council’s executive member for culture, leisure & communities and he was the one who proposed the motion during the meeting. He said, “The Honorary Freedom of York is the highest honor we, as a city, can bestow on those who represent the very best of York. The honor is held by many notable and accomplished people who carry it with pride and responsibly.”

Andrew Is A Disgraced Prince
He went on to say that as Andrew has been stripped of his military roles and royal patronages by the Queen, “we believe that it is right to remove all links that Prince Andrew still has with our great city … it is no longer appropriate for Prince Andrew to represent York and its residents.”
He added that if Andrew does not now respond to the ruling by voluntarily giving up his Duke of York title, “the Government and Buckingham Palace must step in to remove his title to finally end Prince Andrew’s connection to York.”
In February Andrew settled a civil case brought against him by his late friend Jeffrey Epstein’s, “sex trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre.” Since then the 62-year-old has been told he may no longer be known as ‘His Royal Highness.’
