Johnny Depp Throws Shade At Amber Heard In 2022 MTV VMA Shocker!

Johnny Depp can’t seem to escape rumors about Amber Heard. And so the actor apparently decided to use all that gossip to entertain fans. However, Depp’s shady comments about Heard won mixed reactions at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) recently.

The MTV VMAs traditionally contain at least one surprise appearance from a celebrity. And in 2022, Johnny Depp provided the shocker. In a cameo made about three months after his defamation trial involving Amber Heard, the 59-year-old actor became a floating Moon Person, noted People. (Depp’s role as Moon Person signifies the ceremony’s decision to make the former Moon Man award gender-neutral.)

By using digital technology, Johnny appeared to wear a helmet. And apparently becoming a Moon Person for the VMAs pays fairly well. Because Depp hinted that he needed the money after losing jobs due to Amber’s domestic violence allegations. As a result, Johnny the Moon Person threw shade at Heard for her claims.

“And you know what? I needed the work,” announced Depp. The actor disappeared for awhile. But he then returned after a commercial. And Johnny joked, “Hey VMAs, let’s get back to the f—ing music, shall we?”

However, not everyone thought that Johnny throwing shade at Amber represented a success. For instance, Depp complained again about lacking money. And he announced that he will become available to provide cameos at events ranging from wakes and birthday parties. But while some thought the joke amusing, others felt that Johnny had gone too far.

For instance, one Twitter critic called Depp’s appearance “creepy.” And Amber Heard fans mocked Johnny’s appearance. But others just felt confused. For example, one viewer tweeted, “I’m not understanding this recurring Johnny Depp floating moonman gag. And I don’t think I care to?” 

Some even complained that they could not understand Depp’s speech. And they also felt annoyed at Johnny’s final appearance on the MTV VMAs. “And they chose to end the #VMAs with this, so I’ll have nightmares of that creepy floating moonman situation,” posted one critic. Another agreed. “I know! I couldn’t understand what he was saying.”

However, others praised Johnny for his sense of humor. And several called his appearance iconic, predicting it will go down in history as one of the VMAs’ best cameos. But others questioned those calling the cameo a major comeback for the actor.

“I can’t stop laughing, this is what his fans called ‘Johnny Depp’s big comeback’,” tweeted one critic. And another wanted to know who came up with the skits. “Whose choice was it to have Johnny Depp on here asking for jobs?” demanded another social media commentator. And one added, “The Johnny Depp appearance at the VMAs is actually more of a humiliation than a celebration.”
